Blue Economy Minister Inaugurates NPA Seafarers Centre In Lagos
Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola on Wednesday inaugurated the Seafarers Centre of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) in Apapa, Lagos state.
The Minister has also restated his commitment to sterling leadership that would open up new vistas of growth and development for maritime sector and enhance productivity; efficiency; effectiveness and proficiency.
A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com noted that the newly inaugurated edifice is designed to offer vital social, psychological, and emotional support to the dedicated crewmen and women in the maritime industry.
Inaugurating the project, Oyetola noted that the purpose-built facility has shown President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to enhancing the maritime sector to add greater value to the national economy.
He averred that the reconstruction of the Seafarers Centre will elevate Nigeria’s rating in the global maritime community, as state of seafarers centre is one of the factors considered in the rating of ports worldwide.
Oyetola also reaffirmed the renewed commitment and result-oriented approach of the Ministry while urging all heads of maritime agencies to be more audacious and innovative in spearheading smart initiatives that would create opportunities and open up new vistas of growth.
‘I commend the management of the Nigerian Ports Authority for the visionary intervention in transforming this facility into a regional best-in-class that it is today. I was told that it was in poor condition at the beginning of this year,
