Civil Servants No Longer Allowed To Wear Caftan, Babanriga In Niger-Gov Bago
Civil servants in Niger state are no longer allowed to wear native wears like Kaftan, Babanriga and flowing gowns during working hours except on Fridays.
Governor Mohammed Bago, who disclosed this on Saturday , noted that this directive takes immediate effect and applies to both male and female civil servants.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Bago said this during the presentation of land development and preparation equipment at the Brains and Hammers Rice City, Mohammed Inuwa Wushishi Farm, Chakwa Community , Wushishi Local Government, Niger state.
In a viral video, the governor, who spoke in Hausa language , said civil servants must dress like workers who work to create wealth and not noblemen.
‘From Monday to Thursday, there will be no Kaftan, no Babanriga. We have come to work; whoever wants to wear Babanriga should leave work; that’s what we will do’ he said.
Bago, who submitted that his government is committed to changing the narrative and orientation that civil service is all about sitting in offices with flowing gowns, spending public money and doing nothing to create wealth.
Civil servants, politicians and traditional officeholders and the young people must according to him go back to the farm adding that there’s wealth in farming the state therefore has no reason to be poor with its vast arable land.
