61st Birthday : KPYRG Holds Event In Honour Of Saraki In Ilorin, Announces Scholarships For 500 Students

The Kwara PDP Youth Revival Group, KPYRG,  on Wednesday had young people in the State of Harmony gathered in honour of Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, a one-time governor of Kwara state and president of the 8th Nigerian Senate.

The event  that was held at the Press Centre of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Kwara state council, was organized to mark the  61st birthday of the former Senate President.

Dr Saraki turned 61 on Tuesday,  December 19 , 2023.

Giving his speech,  Chairman of the group, Comrade Lawal Olalekan , who is popularly called Auto, said KPYRG has stood as a platform  to show the spirit of solidarity and support that defines the PDP family in Kwara state  while adding that ‘our organization was established to provide emergency assistance to party members in times of need, be it financial or otherwise and  it has since become a beacon of hope and compassion’.

He added that the group has however moved beyond politics and focused on welfare of members and provision of humanitarian aids.

‘Our mission goes beyond conventional politics. We are not just a political group; we are a compassionate ally, a support system for our fellow party members facing challenging times. We are driven by the principles of empathy, unity, and shared responsibility. In moments of crisis, our organization stands ready to extend a helping hand, embodying the true spirit of our great party. Our collective strength lies in our ability to stand by one another, to uplift those in need, and to forge ahead as a resilient political family’ he said.

The group also commended Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, who is the Wazinrin of Ilorin, for demonstrating visionary leadership in all the positions he has held in the last two decades.

‘Ladies and gentlemen, as we gather here to celebrate the 61st birthday of Abubakar Bukola Saraki, it is only fitting that I speak  a little about the legacy of our distinguished leader. Beyond the titles of former governor and Senate President, Saraki symbolizes a legacy of visionary leadership, total dedication, and an enduring commitment to the progress of Kwara state and Nigeria at large.

During his tenure as governor, he spearheaded transformative policies that left an indelible mark on our state’s development. From education to healthcare and infrastructure, his visionary initiatives have continued to shape the lives of our people. As Senate President, he exhibited astute leadership, contributing significantly to national legislations and the overall advancement of our great nation. As we celebrate him, let us draw inspiration from his journey. May his legacy serve as a guiding light, inspiring us to emulate the principles of visionary leadership, dedication, and a commitment to the greater good’ Mr Lawal submitted while announcing scholarships for 500 students in the state and adding that this was done cognizant that education is the bedrock of any society.

‘Through the scholarships offered by our group to the deserving students, we are not only investing in their future but also contributing to the overall progress of our society.

These scholarships are a pointer to our dedication to fostering a culture of learning, empowerment, and inclusivity-a value shared by our distinguished  leader’ he said.

Lawal also added that the selection process  was thorough  and meticulous ‘ to ensure that those who have received this support are truly deserving and poised to make a meaningful impact in their respective communities’.

The Guest Speaker, Dr Bello Olamilekan Kabir , who asserted that Saraki left a legacy of achievements and changed the face of Kwara state during his governorship, also urged PDP members in the state to show commitment to the party and ensure that they improve the fortunes of the party through ‘unity of effort’.

Also speaking, Mr  Abdulrahman Abdullahi Kayode, who is the  secretary of the state PDP,   commended Saraki’s visionary leadership while also submitting that he is the best political leader that anyone can ever pray for.

‘He is a blessing in the sense that he is a leader that wants the best for all his followers. He has shown this  as governor of Kwara state and as the senate president’ Mr Kayode said.

One of the attendees of the event,  Shayomi Omotayo Adebiyi from Igosun ward ,Oyun Local Government, in an interview with Team@orientactualmags.com, wished Saraki a happy birthday while commending him for being altruistic.

‘He’s someone that has touched lives positively.  Since his days as governor of Kwara state, up till date, Dr Bukola Saraki has never relented in helping the less privileged. He has never stopped supporting the young people to  attain their desired goals.

 On this special occasion, I wish him good health, and may he be blessed with unwavering strength and unwavering resolve to face the challenges that lie ahead.
