Ebonyi South Senate Seat: Works Minister’s Brother, Austin Umahi, Joins Race
Chief Austin Umahi, who is Mr Dave Umahi’s younger brother, has joined the Ebonyi South Senate race.
Dave Umahi, a former governor of Ebonyi state, is currently serving as Minister for Works .
He had earlier won the senate election held in February this year but had the parliament seat declared vacant following his nomination as minister.
The re-run of the election is scheduled to hold in February 2024.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Austin announced his decision to join the senate race during the press conference he presided over in Abakaliki on Monday , adding that he remains a top contender for the position.
‘True democratic process is the only way to ensure the emergence of an acceptable senator for the district.
I will give the people best representation, having gained experiences from both the business and political sectors’ he said.
Austin, who served as Director-General of the APC Governorship Campaign Council for the 2023 General Election in Ebonyi state, said the existing political arrangements and structures devoid of sentiments, are in support of his senate bid.
‘We are in a democratic dispensation, and I want all my supporters to pray for the success of both the primary and re-run elections.
I am from Ohaozara Local Government, and that is where APC Ebonyi Zoning Committee has zoned the senatorial seat to, I am not contesting for personal gains but for the people, as it is the time to make a positive mark.
I intend to change the narrative, and the district should be given an opportunity to elect a representative in a transparent manner.
Whoever emerges democratically should represent the people, just as other aspirants should present themselves for the people to choose from’ he said-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
