Osun : Land Grabbers, Estate Developers, Others Told To Stay Away From Govt Land Or Face Prosecution

Osun state Government has warned land grabbers, estate developers, and others to stay away from public land and government property or risk arrest and prosecution.
Governor Ademola Adeleke gave this warning on Tuesday through the Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Sunday Oroniyi, during his visit to Owalla Dam in Oba-Oke, Osun state, where Federal groups had invaded and bulldozed the area without authorization.
‘The construction of the Owala dam was completed in the year 1988, purposely to make potable water available to about 12 LGs in the state and it’s being achieved through the construction of the New Ede Headworks. The specific maximum depth and length is not less than 600m and the catchment area is about 20 km square.
After the project was completed, it was officially handed over to Osun state Water Corporation and since then, the entire land has been under the administration and maintenance of the Water Corporation.
The dam was constructed under the Water Corporation of old Oyo state and the land acquired before it was ceded to Osun Water Corporation in 1991’ the commissioner submitted in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Wednesday.
The commissioner also condemned the alarming rate at which the land in question has been encroached on by the Federal Group, estate developers and the land grabbers.
He added that government policies on encroachment remain the same and emphasized that encroachment of any nature will no longer be tolerated by the state government.
He also noted that a monitoring committee has been set up, in a bid to curb further unlawful encroachment on public land in the state.
Hon Oroniyi, therefore, warned that the government would not hesitate to allow the law to take its full course if those engaged in the activities remain recalcitrant-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
