Kidnapping: Kwara PDP Commends Vigilantes For Apprehending 1 Suspect In Oke-Ode, Accuses Gov AbdulRazaq Of Inaction

Kwara state PDP on Friday condemned the abduction incident recorded in Oke-Ode, Ifelodun Local Government, a few days ago, during which an innocent trader lost his life, and a POS agent, who was the target of the attack escaped by a whisker.
The party in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by its State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Olusegun Olusola Adewara described the growing insecurity across the state and the state governor’s alleged cold-heartedness as troubling and disheartening.
While commiserating with the Oke-Ode community, the party also alleged that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s failure to conduct local government elections in the state is one of the factors triggering insecurity in the state.
‘We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family, the traditional institution in Oke-Ode, and the entire Oke-Ode indigenes both at home and in the Diaspora. The PDP stands in solidarity and pledges to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to swiftly bring the perpetrators of this heinous act to justice.
As a party, we express our disappointment at Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s cold-heartedness whilst insecurity worsens in Kwara, especially his silence on the incident recorded in Oke-Ode . We find it disheartening that the governor rushed to issue a statement condoling with the Oyo state government over explosion incident but had remained mute on what took place in Oke-Ode which claimed lives and put the community in disarray. We asked whether the lives of the people of Kwara have now become so insignificant to the governor entrusted with the mandate to protect people’s lives and property that he does not have empathy for them anymore. This is the peak of insensitivity and irresponsibility from the APC-led administration in the state.
We commend the prompt response of the local vigilantes in Oke-Ode, who engaged the criminals and successfully thwarted their operation, and had one of the perpetrators apprehended while others were given a good chase. We call for increased support and encouragement for these local hunters by the state government and local council to empower them in safeguarding their respective communities’ the party said.
While submitting that having elected leaders in charge of the affairs of the third tier of government in the state will help to address insecurity the party also alleged that the TIC chairmen have put security vehicles meant for vigilante operations in their respective local governments to wrong use.
‘Our party believes that a democratically elected local government structure would enhance security and grassroots development knowing full well that if democratically elected LG structures are put in place, they will be accountable to the people and device strategies that are peculiar to their respective localities to combat this menace and also offer better resources management for each of the council areas’ the statement added-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
