Supreme Court Victory: Ughelli North PDP Congratulates Gov Oborevwori

The PDP, Ughelli North Local Government Chapter, has congratulated the Delta state governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborewori, on  his victory at the Supreme Court  describing this as a victory for all Deltans.

Ughelli North PDP also passed a vote of confidence on the governor, saying he has impacted so much on the Local Government in terms of projects and appointments.

Moving the vote of confidence during an enlarged meeting of Elders, Leaders and Stakeholders in the party, held at the Agbarho residence of the state Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Onoriode Agofure, on Sunday, former Secretary to the Delta state Government, Rt. Hon. Festus Ovie Agas, thanked the governor for appointing sons and daughters of Ughelli North to key offices in his administration.

A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Sunday noted that the motion for the vote of confidence was seconded by the Chairman, Delta state Universal Basic Education Board, Hon. Samuel Mariere.

Earlier in his welcome address,  PDP Chairman in the Local Government, Mr. Kesiena Nomuoja said the meeting was aimed at strengthening and repositioning the party for victory ahead of the forthcoming local government elections and future elections.

On the Local Government elections, the party Chairman noted that the number of aspirants vying for  elective positions from the party  is on the high side which is worrisome, and he has therefore expressed   the need for the party and its leaders to intervene before it leads to disunity .

He said, ‘this is a stakeholder meeting. Party leaders and those that pilot its affairs are just servant leaders. The essence of calling this meeting is for all of us to brainstorm and come up with the best decision on how to approach this matter’.

Nomoja  also disclosed that the party has already set up a committee to screen and possibly reduce the number of chairmanship aspirants, adding that  the report of the committee is ready.

However, after much deliberation on the issue, the party resolved to hold the report of the committee in abeyance, pending further decisions from the state PDP officials and the party’s leader, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
