Richard Adeori Okin : Ejigbo Prince In Police Custody As Osun Social Media Users Lament Weak Gun Laws
Prince Eniola Oyeyode, who is one of the sons of the Ogiyan of Ejigbo, HRM , Oba Omowonuola Oyeyode Oyeyosin, has been arrested and taken into custody.
Spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force in Osun state, Opalola Yemisi Olawoyin, in a statement issued in Osogbo, on Sunday, said the prince was arrested in connection with the death of the United States of America-based lecturer and grassroots mobiliser Richard Idowu aka Ade Ori Okin.
‘The Osun Police Command is using this medium to inform the general public that the Command is aware of the shooting incident that occurred in Ejigbo which led to the death of one Dr. Richard Adeori Okin.
The incident occurred on 27/1/2024 at about 9:48 pm after the 50th Coronation Anniversary of the Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oba Oyeyode Oyesosin where one Prince Eniola Oyeyode ‘m’ of Ejigbo instructed one of his civilian guards named Hammed Abdul Jelili ‘m’ of Ejigbo to fire his double barrel gun into the air to confirm if the gun was in good condition or not, but instead shot directly at the victim and he was rushed to a hospital but confirmed dead by a doctor at the hospital.
In the meanwhile, Prince Eniola Oyeyode, who gave the order to his civilian guard to fire gun, has been arrested and detained.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bzigu Dali Kwazhi, mni, therefore appeals to member of the public especially the residents of Ejigbo to remain calm as discreet investigation has commenced immediately’ the statement said.
The Ogiyan of Ejigbo, HRM , Oba Omowonuola Oyeyode Oyeyosin celebrated his 50th coronation anniversary in Ejigbo, Osun state on Saturday.
Though the incident was not recorded either at the palace where the event was held or at the reception venue Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Ade Ori okin’s death had since taken the shine off a great day .
It was also gathered that Ade ori okin was accidentally shot by a local hunter.
‘The programme was held at the palace and the reception was later held at the Kabiesi’s estate in Oko Oba ,all the programmes had ended, and everyone had left . The deceased person and Prince Eniola are friends and they were later together at his (Eniola) residence. The two of them are Osun state PDP bigwigs.
It was not a planned attack , how would someone invite a friend to his house to kill him.
What happened was that on arrival, the local hunters gave them the traditional gun salute and as they were about leaving the local hunters also wanted to do the same thing but unfortunately the gun fell off and a bullet hit Adeori okin and almost immediately an overzealous security guard that escorted the deceased person also gunned down the man who fired the bullet’ the source said.
