Gunmen Kill Another Ekiti Monarch In Koro Ekiti, Queen Consort, 2 Others Abducted.. Kwara CP Promises ‘Swift Action’… It’s Shocking, Abominable-Gov AbdulRazaq

The Olukoro of Koro in Ekiti Local Government, Kwara state  retired  General Segun Aremu has joined his ancestors.

Unknown gunmen, who not only committed a sacrilege by attacking his palace in Koro Ekiti on Thursday night , had also made him embark on an unplanned trip to the great beyond.

This has come barely four days after Ekiti state monarchs were attacked and made to join their ancestors by some unknown gunmen.

On Monday, two among three Ekiti monarchs returning from a meeting in Irele-Ekiti were attacked and gunned down. The traditional rulers  who were made to join their ancestors  were  Oba David Ogunsakin, the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti; and  Oba Olatunde Olusola, the Onimojo of Omojola-Ekiti.

There are two local governments in Kwara state with indigenes having the same dialect, origin ,history, culture  and traditions with those in Ekiti state, they are Ekiti local government and Oke Ero local government..

Koro  Ekiti  is a neighbour  of Irele/Oke Ako/Ipao/Oke Aiyedun and Ikole all in Ekiti state. 

The Olukoro is the 3rd Ekiti monarch that will be made to join their ancestors in four days 

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara state has condemned the attack on the  Olukoro of Koro’s palace which has made Oba Segun Aremu join his ancestors.

 The governor  in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by his Chief Press Secretary , Mr Rafiu Ajakaye condemned the attack on  Olukoro’s palace  calling it reckless, shocking, and abominable. 

He urged the security agencies not to spare any resources to track down the perpetrators, free the spouse and others taken away, and bring them to book. 

‘We will certainly get the perpetrators and ensure that this is their last crime against humanity’  the governor said while  adding that ‘My profound condolences go to the people of Koro. Our hearts are broken, and we stand by them at this time and always’.

In separate statement, the state Commissioner of Police ,Mr Victor Olaiya has not only condemned the attack on Olukoro’s palace but also promised a swift action.

Spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force in Kwara state, Ejire-Adeyemi Toun , a Deputy Superintendent of Police,  in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com  urged residents  to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative.

‘It is with deep sorrow that I confirm the unfortunate incident that happened today in Koro, Ekiti Local Government, Kwara state. Gunmen invaded the palace of the Onikoro, Oba Aremu Olusegun Cole resulting in the tragic loss of his life and the abduction of his wife and one other.

The Kwara state Police Command, under the Commissioner of Police , CP Victor OLAIYA’s leadership,  expresses its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and the entire community affected by this heinous act. Our prayers are with them during this challenging time.

Immediate and intensive investigations are underway to apprehend those criminals who carried out this reprehensible act. We assure the public that no stone will be left unturned in ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to justice swiftly.

Security measures in the Koro community have been intensified, tactical teams are being mobilized to beef up security to ensure the safety and well-being of residents.

The CP has urged the public to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative as we work tirelessly to unravel this matter; arrest and  the culprits face charges.  The Kwara state Police command remains resolute in its commitment to safeguarding lives and property’ the statement said- .Team@orientactualmags.com
