South Africa Vs Nigeria: Super Eagles Players Observe Moment Of Silence For Cairo Ojougbo, Ayuba, Others

Members of the Nigeria’s national football team,  the Super Eagles, have mourned  the death of citizens who fell ill and died while watching Nigeria-South Africa semi-final on Wednesday.

  Recall that it was a match that made everyone be on the edge of their seats because it featured tense situations.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the Super Eagles players led by Captain of the team  Ahmed Musa, in a video posted on the official Instagram page of the national football team on Friday   observed a moment of silence in honour of those who died during the match while promising that the Super Eagles will lift the trophy in honour of the deceased Nigerians on Sunday.

‘Yesterday, we lost four good Nigerians because of the game. We wish their families the best but there’s nothing we can do. Insha Allah, on Sunday, we’re gonna lift that trophy for them and the country’ he said.

Earlier, the Super Eagles had mourned the fans via its X handle with a message, ‘During our semi-final match, we tragically lost a few supporters.

In a cruel twist of fate, their fervent passion for the beautiful game unwittingly led them to their final moments as the Nigeria vs South Africa match unfolded, they were lost in the thrill of the game, unaware of the looming danger.

We pray that the souls of the departed find eternal peace, forever remembered for their love for football and the togetherness it brings. Rest in peace’.

Those who fell ill and died while watching the match include  Dr Cairo Ojougbo, a former member of the House of Representatives,  a   staff of Nestle Plc , Mikail Osundiji, Chief Osondu Nwoye,, who was until his death on Wednesday a very popular businessman in Abidjan, Deputy Bursar of the  Kwara state University, Malete, Alhaji Ayuba Abdullahi; and a  corps member , Samuel-Team@orientactualmags.com
