Muslims Across The World To Celebrate Eid-li-Fitri Festival Tomorrow
Muslims across the world will celebrate the Eid ul-Fitr festival tomorrow, Wednesday, April 10, 2024.
The eid-li-fitri festival falls on the first day of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic calendar which signifies the end of Ramadan, the 9th month.
Ramadan usually lasts for 29 or 30 days, during which strict fasting is observed from sunrise to sunset and the daytime fasting during the month of Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam.
Saudi Arabia announced on Monday that fasting will continue today, Tuesday, April 9, 2024, while Eid al-Fitr festival will hold on Wednesday, April 10.

Astronomers carried out moon sighting exercise at observatories across Saudi Arabia on Monday but did not see the crescent which implied that eid –li-fitri will hold on Wednesday.
The timing of Eid al-Fitr is determined by the sighting of the crescent moon, in accordance with the Islamic lunar calendar.
The United Arab Emirates and Qatar also announced on Monday that Eid- al-Fitr festival will hold tommorow.
Countries that have announced that Eid-li-fitri festival will hold tomorrow, April 10 include United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Yemen, Bahrain, Egypt, Tunisia, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria and Iraq.
Eid-li-fitri festival will also be celebrated in the United Kingdom on Wednesday.
The 2021 UK census said 3,868,133 people in England and Wales which is 6.5% of the total population are Muslims.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, who is the President General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, (SCIA) said this decision followed the report of National Moon Sighting Committees across the country which had confirmed that there were no sighting of the new moon
Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs to the Sultanate Council, Professor Sambo Junaidu in a statement he issued in Sokoto on Monday night ,said the council accepted the report and accordingly declared Wednesday, April 10, 2024, as the first day of Shawwal 1445AH.
‘His Eminence, the Sultan felicitates the Nigerian Muslim Ummah and wishes them Allah’s guidance and blessings.
