Gov Adeleke Takes Measures To Tackle SGBV In Osun, Sets Up Action Committee

Governor Ademola Adeleke has  taken measures to tackle sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV)  in Osun state which include the setting up  of an action committee to implement the joint decisions made by the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and the Osun state Government.

 Among the decisions in question is the establishment of mobile courts.

Adeleke’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed noted in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com  that  the governor  had during his visit to the  Minister of Women Affairs affirmed his commitment to immediate implementation of the resolution of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum recommending the establishment of Mobile Courts that will be  dedicated to addressing issues of sexual and gender- based violence, child abuse in the form of street begging and ensure that cases involving women and children held in correctional facilities are quickly addressed.


He had also noted that in the spirit of Lent, Easter, and Ramadan period, he had directed his Commissioner for Justice to prepare an executive order to free all women  that are unjustly incarcerated in the state.

The Justice Ministry will according to the governor compile the list of affected women across the state to be granted executive pardon in furtherance of protection of women rights.

‘To give effect to the resolutions reached with the Federal Ministry in line with the position of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum , Governor Adeleke has come up with an action committee comprising  the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon (Mrs) Ayobola Awolowo, the Commissioner for Federal Affairs, Hon (Mrs) Adenike Adeleke, the Attorney General to be represented by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Legal Matters, Barrister Nurudeen Kareem Esq.

Others include the Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon Moshood Olagunju and Osun state Chairperson, Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ
