Yahaya Bello: We’ve Received $760,000  Refund From American International School-EFCC

Yahaya Bello: We’ve Received $760,000  Refund From American International School-EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has  announced  receipt  of $760,000 refund from  the American International School, Abuja.

The money was paid  to AISA as advanced tuition  fees by former  governor of Kogi state ,  Alhaji Yahaya Bello whose children are students at the school.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that spokesman for the EFCC,  Mr. Dele Oyewale, disclosed this on Friday.

‘The school has refunded the entire $ 760, 000 to the EFCC’s recovery bank account’  he said.

Recall that  the school had earlier, asked the EFCC to provide ‘authentic banking details’ in order to return the money to government coffers.

Bello , as governor of Kogi state, allegedly paid $720,000 in advance as tuition fees for five of his children from the government coffers.

The children in question  are in Grade Levels 2 to 8 .

Recall that EFCC agents had arrived at  Bello’s residence on Benghazi street, Wuse Zone 4, Abuja, at about 9:30 am on Wednesday , April 17,and while they must have planned to place  the former governor under arrest and subsequently take him to their office for questioning  , they however encountered stiff resistance from  some police officers and armed men dressed in black with the inscription ‘Special Forces’ .

Whilst this was going on, Governor Usman Ododo arrived at Bello’s residence at about 2:30 pm and his convoy later left at exactly 4:20 pm.

He allegedly used his convoy as means of escape for Bello as the EFCC agents that had laid siege to the residence since morning left 10 minutes later apparently after getting informed that their ‘target’ had escaped.

While Bello was later declared wanted by the EFCC  nothing had since been heard in  respect of his whereabouts-

In a letter sent to the Lagos Zonal Commander of the EFCC, the school  had submitted that  the sum of $845,852 has been paid in tuition ‘since the 7th of September 2021 to date’.

AISA had also noted that  the sum to be refunded is $760,910 because money for the   educational services already rendered had been deducted.

‘Please forward to us an official written request, with the authentic banking details of the EFCC, for the refund of the above-mentioned funds as previously indicated as part of your investigation into the alleged money laundering activities by the Bello family’ the school had submitted.

‘Since the 7th September, 2021, to date, $845,852.84 in tuition and other fees have been deposited into our bank account.

We have calculated the net amount to be transferred and refunded to the state, after deducting the educational services rendered as $760,910.84.

No further additional fees are expected in respect of tuition as their  fees have now been settled until they graduate from ASIA’ the school added in a statement by Greg Hughes.

The school has also promised to draw the attention of the anti-graft agency if  further deposits are made by the Bello family.

‘Ali Bello contacted the school on Friday ,13 August, 2021 requesting to pay the family school fees in advance until the students graduate from High School’ the statement sunmitted-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
