Kano Throne: I Didn’t Influence Gov Abba Yusuf’s Decision…Why I Didn’t Dethrone Ado Bayero In 2011–Kwankwaso

A prominent politician in the country, who had recently regained his position as political godfather in Kano state, Alhaji Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has submitted that he did not influence Governor Abba Yusuf’s decision with respect to the developments that were recorded in the state on Thursday and Friday.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Kwankwaso, who said this in an interview with the  BBC Hausa Service,  disclosed that he would be visiting Kano very soon to ask the governor and the Speaker of the state House of Assembly what had happened.

Alhaji Musa Rabiu Kwankwaso , a former Minister for Defence and a former senator,  served as governor of Kano state between 1999 and 2003 and from 2011 to 2015.

Alhaji Muhammad Lamido Sanusi was appointed as Emir of Kano on June 8, 2014, during Kwankwaso’s governorship.

‘When I said we will revisit the case, I didn’t say the direction to follow. I just said it would be reviewed… When I go there, I will hear what has happened and I am sure they will tell me whatever has  happened, and whatever they tell me, we just pray for them. I heard the Assembly members have repealed the law.

What we were telling them was they should go and investigate whether what happened was done out of goodwill or not. What happened appears to be a vendetta or cheating. It’s just a matter of did Ganduje did right or wrong. It’s not about going against him.

I will go to Kano very soon and I will speak with some of the assembly members, especially the speaker, and the governor in respect of what is happening.

They say Rabiu Kwankwaso has burnt his hands for dictating what to do. We are still with the governor working together. It’s just a matter of offering advice and if you are not asked to, you keep quiet so long things are going right we just pray and hope that they succeed’ he said.

Alhaji Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso also reacted to fears that the revered throne may be prone to ‘political decisions’ which may make it witness frequent leadership changes.

‘Those who are looking at it from the perspective of whether it’s going to be tenure-based are somehow right but who started it?

When I came back as governor in 2011, everybody knew that the late Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, was not supporting us, he was supporting Shekarau but when we got into power, we didn’t even think of dethroning him. This is why we are telling people that everybody should sit down where they belong’ he added.

Recall that Kwankwaso had in January this year submitted during an interview with some radio stations in Kano that there was a need to revisit matters that have to do with the Kano Emirate Council.

‘Honestly it (the Kano Emirate issue) is one of the things that nobody has sat with me to discuss so far but I am sure we are going to sit and see how to go about it. Is it going to be allowed, demolished, corrected, or whatever? It will be revisited, and what’s supposed to be done will be done.

There were a lot of things and this was a trap. All these things were not done in good faith or intention. It was brought with some bad intentions which every one of you here and our listeners are aware of.

Sometimes you come with things that are good and they turn out to be bad while sometimes you bring bad things and they turn out to be good. So, all I know is that I was not consulted as of now but definitely, we will come to discuss and see what should be done’ he had submitted—Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
