Man Mistakes Co-Hunter For Deer In Ogun, Guns Him Down

A traditional hunter, Sunday Ijiola,   has been shot dead by a co-hunter during hunting expedition in Ogun state.

Atanda Agbobiado shot his co-hunter,  Sunday Ijiola dead  in a forest  in Pakoyi, via Owode Ketu, Yewa North  local government,  Ogun state, on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that 15 traditional hunters had left home for the hunting expedition and sadly, Sunday  Ijiola did not return alive.

 43-year-old Sunday Ijiola was said to have been mistaken for the deer  that they were pursuing and he was shot dead.

‘A group of hunters from Owode-Apesin village, consisting of about 15 people, went to the forest for hunting expedition and then saw a big deer .

They decided to make it their target , however when they noticed that it was gradually disappearing from  view, they decided to strategically hunt  the deer  by double-crossing it.

 Atanda Agbobiado  later thought he had shot at the deer  only for them to later discovered that Sunday was the one who was gunned down and  not the deer.

However, the victim was said to have passed away while being transported to the hospital for medical attention.

Upon realizing that Sunday has given up the ghost  , Atanda  bolted out .

The grieving family later reported the incident at  the Eggua Police Division’ a source said. .

Spokesperson for the Ogun  state Police Command, Omolola Odutola,  who has confirmed the incident , also disclosed that an investigation has been launched  into the incident.

‘We are currently investigating  the incident, our cops have visited the scene of the crime and also took photographs of the corpse. Efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspect.

The father of the victim has requested that an autopsy be conducted and also requested that the body of the victim be released to him in line with the traditional rites.
