Minimum Wage: Akume Receives Report From Tripartite Committee, Discloses Next Course Of Action

The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation disclosed on Monday that the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage has made its report available to the SGF, Chief George Akume.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu had on January 30, 2024, inaugurated the committee which was tasked with  recommending a new national minimum wage for the Nigerian workers in the public and the private sectors.

Recall that the organized labour had declared an indefinite nationwide strike that started on June 2, to press home the demands for a new minimum wage and reversal of the hike in electricity tariff.

 Recall also that the organized labour had later suspended the nationwide strike in deference to the committee in question to allow continuation of negotiations.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the Director of Information and Public Relations, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation , Mr. Segun Imohiosen,  in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday said the report would be presented to the President when the organized labour leaders return from Switzerland.

‘The Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage has concluded its assignment and submitted its report to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation on Monday, 10th June 2024.

A formal presentation of the Report will be made to Mr. President for appropriate action, when the  Labour  union leaders as well as representatives of the Government and Organized Private Sector, who are presently in Geneva, Switzerland for the ongoing International Labour Organization  Conference, return to the country.
