Don’t Get Involved In Mining Agreements, Ogun Govt Warns Traditional Rulers…Establishes  2 New Agencies

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state has issued three Executive Orders including ones that have gotten two new agencies that will regulate mining activities in the state established.

The new agencies are ;Ogun state Mineral Resources Development Agency and Ogun state Landscaping and Recreation Agency.

The governor has also  stopped traditional rulers in the state from entering into any form of agreement or Memorandum of Understanding concerning mining activities or any other land matters in their respective  domains through the executive orders in question.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that  this was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the governor’s  Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Mr Kayode Akinmade while noting that the second Executive Order that established Ogun state Landscaping and Recreation Agency, was in line with the Abiodun administration’s Transformation Agenda to ensure sustainable development and fight climate change.

The statement added that the third Executive Order will discourage and stop activities of traditional rulers in the state who are allegedly conniving with undesirable elements to mine for mineral resources without the approval of the state government.

‘Pursuant to the authority vested in me as the governor of Ogun state, I hereby order as follows: that all forms of traditional institutions existing within the state are hereby with immediate effect barred from entering into any form of Memorandum of Understanding or Agreement with any individual, companies or organizations seeking Land within any part of the entire state for purposes of Mining or Industry and are to forthwith refrain from issuing any form of consent letters for mining across the state.

Any traditional institution or stakeholder in the institution who flouts this order shall be sanctioned in line with the provisions of the Obas and Chiefs Law and other relevant criminal statutes’ the statement quoted the governor  to have submitted-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
