Southern Governors Elect Gov Dapo Abiodun As Chairman
Governor, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state has been elected as chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum while Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra state was elected as Vice Chairman.
The Southern Governors’ Forum serves as the umbrella body for the 17 governors from the South-West, South-South, and the South-East geopolitical zones in the country.
Governor Abiodun replaces late Chief Rotimi Akeredolu, who was until his death on December 27, 2023, the governor of Ondo state and the chairman of the forum.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the governors held a closed-door meeting that lasted about five hours at the Presidential Lodge , Abeokuta, Ogun state capital, 13 governors and 3 Deputy Governors attended the meeting with the solitary exception of Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers state who neither attended nor sent his deputy to represent him.
‘Firstly, I want to thank all the governors, the 17 governors, for coming to Abeokuta today for this first meeting after about three years. It underscores the commitment and the determination to ensure that the Southern States are occupied by their pride of place.
I also want to thank them for the confidence reposed in me and Professor Soludo and I pledge that we would ensure that this confidence is justified.
