Kano High Court Upholds Aminu Ado Bayero’s Dethronement
Justice Amina Aliyu of the Kano state High Court in her ruling on Monday perpetually restrained Alhaji Aminu Ado-Bayero and the deposed Emirs of Bichi, Rano, Gaya and Karaye from parading themselves as monarchs in the state.
She also noted that Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero and the four other dethroned Emirs by themselves, servants, privies and any other persons appointed by them should not henceforth parade themselves as Emirs of Kano, Bichi, Gaya, Rano, Karaye.
Justice Aliyu however declined to get involved in matters that have to do with eviction of Alhaji Aminu Bayero, from his Nassarawa mini palace.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that she also ordered Alhaji Aminu Bayero and the other former Emirs to quickly hand over all the Emirate Traditional Royal Artefacts in their possession to the government and the substantive Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II.
Justice Aliyu also noted that the state House of Assembly Emirate Council Repeal Law 2024 was done according to the Law as enshrined in Section 4 of the Constitution while adding that Governor Abba Yusuf’s decision to give assent to the law was also in line with the Constitution.
The applicants in the case; Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice of Kano state, Speaker of Kano state House of Assembly, and the Kano state House of Assembly, had through their counsel, Ibrahim Isah-Wangida filed a motion exparte dated May 27.
The applicants had asked the court to restrain Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, and the dethroned emirs of Bichi, Rano, Gaya, and Karaye from parading themselves as traditional rulers in the state .
The respondents in the lawsuit were Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero Bichi , Dr Ibrahim Abubakar ll, Alhaji Kabiru Muhammad-Inuwa, and Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim-Gaya.
