Gov Idris Announces Plans To Construct 300km Of Roads In Kebbi Rural Areas

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi state says his administration will construct and upgrade 300km  rural roads across the state noting that this is in line with the rural transformation agenda of his administration to make life more meaningful for the people at the grassroots. 

 A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Yahaya Sarki noted that Dr Nasir Idris  disclosed this during the flag off ceremony  of 6.5 km Malisa – Kurya – Maruda  road in  Malisa, Gwandu local Government on Wednesday .

According to the governor, 300km  of rural roads across the state have been identified for construction, upgrade, scope improvement and maintenance , in the first phase of his administration’s  rural transformation agenda. 

Comrade Nasir Idris said he is fully aware of the challenges that rural communities  are facing with respect to  markets, transport and other essential services.

 All the  identified roads would according to him be fixed and the projects taken  to completion. 

‘ We are committed to ensuring that rural communities are not left behind, agriculture and other social services will also continue to receive our attention’ the governor assured.

Comrade, Dr. Nasir asked the contractor to execute quality job while urging the people of Kebbi state to monitor all projects closely. 

Earlier in his welcome address, the State Coordinator of Rural Access and  Agricultural Marketing, RAAMP, Idris Adamu said, the 6.5km road has been scheduled to be completed in one year while adding that it has N565 million naira as the project cost.

The road project is being carried out  under  the Kebbi state Rural Access and Agricultural Marketting Project, RAAMP.

In a similar development, Governor Nasir Idris has  flagged off the construction of Rini Junction- Gidan Jodi – Garu Town in Augie Local Government under the RAAMP rural road projects.

The governor said he was in Augie in continuation of the commencement of the road projects which started in Shanga Local Government on Monday. 

Governor Nasir Idris  restated his pledge to continue to give farmers in the state fertilizers for free.

‘  In other states, the fertilizers are either sold or subsidized for the farmers, but I will never sell the commodity to farmers, I will give them fertilizers for free in Kebbi state. 

 I will distribute the resources of Kebbi state judiciously and evenly ‘  he assured. 

Governor Nasir Idris further announced that his administration would soon embark on construction of 5km  of township roads in Argungu. 

He  added that his administration would expend 5 billion naira empowerment package to 50,000 beneficiaries across the state to mitigate the present economic situation in the country. 

‘ Insha Allah, by next month, 50,000 people will receive N100,000 each totaling about 5 billion naira ‘ he said.

The governor also  gave an assurance that his administration would continue to give necessary support to the Traditional  Rulers.

He enumerated the myriad of achievements recorded by his administration in Education, Healthcare, Agriculture, payment of salaries, pensions and gratuities to workers. 

 Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Alhaji Shehu Muazu extolled Governor Nasir Idris for his developmental projects particularly on  the construction of rural and Urban roads across the state.
