Gov Idris Donates N50m To CSSG, Promises To Assist In Increasing Student Enrollment

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi state has donated 50 million naira to  the Command Science Secondary School, Girls, Goru.

A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yahaya Sarki  noted that Comrade Idris announced this donation during  the graduation ceremony of the school today, Saturday . July 20 , 2024.

He explained that the gesture  of goodwill  is  designed  to assist the school to tackle its immediate problems and ensure an effective and enabling  learning  environment for students and  the teachers.

After assessing the level of infrastructure at the school, the governor  told the school authorities that his administration would offer a helping hand in  respect of the refurbishment of some of the structures. 

The Kauran Gwandu  noted that education  matters   require collective  responsibility and  not to be left  for the government alone .

‘Education is the responsibility of all, not only the government, parents will also have to contribute for the benefit of their children and wards’ he said.

Idris, who observed  the small number of students at the school, promised to join hands with the 21 Sole Administrators in the state to sponsor about 60 students who will start to attend the school soon.

The governor  also restated the commitment of his administration to improve the education sector of Kebbi state.

‘My administration is giving free education to students, we have paid for NECO and WAEC,  we have paid N2 billion for students studying in tertiary institutions,  we have paid  N723 million for  tuition and registration fees of our indigenes who are tertiary students in India, Egypt and Cyprus .

My administration has invested over 10 billion naira in the education sector within one year’ he averred. 

The Commandant of the school, Major B. Fatai expressed gratitude for the physical presence of Comrade Nasir Idris at the graduation ceremony, hoping that the governor among other requests made by the school, would help to mobilize  and increase the population of the students. 

Major Fatai also urged the governor to intervene in the structural repairs of the school to make learning more enabling for the students .

She called on commissioners and other government officials to continue to motivate and encourage educational pursuits of students .

‘To the Hon Commissioners ,Permanent secretaries, other government officials and distinguish guests here present, we are honored by your presence. 

Your commitment to education, youth development is a testament to your tireless effort to shape a brighter future for our society’ the commandant said.

To the graduating students,  Major Fatai congratulated and admonished them to be good ambassadors . ‘You represent the future leaders, innovators and change makers of our world’ she said.
