Kwara APC To Hold Grand Defection Ceremony For Saraki’s Former Loyalists
A grand defection ceremony will soon be held for Kwara state PDP bigwigs, who recently left their party for the APC , and plans are already at an advanced stage.
The PDP defectors ,who were loyalists of former Senate President ,Dr Bukola Saraki ,had at different times , left the leading opposition party.
Those who will be joining the APC include supporters of former Minister of National Planning, who is currently the Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Professor Abubakar Olanrewaju Suleiman, who is popularly called ‘Amana’.
Also leaving PDP for the APC is Alhaji Toyin Olokooba, who served as former governor Abdulfatah Ahmed’s Special Adviser on Political Affairs.
For good reasons, a politician who would be making a conspicuous presence at the planned defection ceremony is Prince Haliru Dantsoho Mahmud (Dan’iyan Kaiama).
He made news last year when he issued a statement calling for a review of the 2023 general election and posing questions to Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki and other PDP bigwigs in the state.
Dan’iya, who was then the State Youth Leader, had followed this up with a video clip insisting that answers must be provided for the salient questions he had raised in respect of the 2023 PDP Presidential and National Assembly elections funds allocated to Kwara State.
This allegation had led to his suspension by the State Exco, which was later reportedly upturned by the Damagun- led National Working Committee at its 578th meeting on Tuesday, 28th of November 2023, and his subsequent resignation from the party on December 11, 2024, respectively.
