Fugitive Cult Leader, Olamilekan Akojede, Arrested In Ogun
35-year-old Olamilekan Akojede, who was alleged to be a fugitive cult leader, has been arrested by the police in Oja Oda, Yewa-North Local Government, Ogun state.
Akojede was reportedly arrested at about 2:30 pm on Friday.
Spokesperson for Ogun state police command, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed Olamilekan’s arrest in a statement posted on X on Friday, said the suspect, who is the leader of the cult group called Alora, has been the command’s most wanted fugitive.
Odutola noted that Akojede who was accused of terrorizing and causing panic in the state will be transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation.
‘The DPO, Oja Odan has apprehended an Alora confraternity No 1. One Olamilekan Akojede. The 35-year-old man who has terrorized Oja Odan ,was picked up at about 1430hrs today and will be transferred to SCID, for discreet investigation.
He has been causing panic and has been on the watch list’ she submitted while restating the command’s dedication to ending cultism in the state and urging other cult members to borrow a new leaf and change for the betterment of society
‘They should take a leaf from this person who has been apprehended, to accept the amnesty programme and be better sons to their families’ she added.
In another development, the state Police Command also disclosed on Saturday, said that 34-year-old Adekunle Adebajo, who is popularly called Kunle Polly, has also been arrested and taken into custody.
He was alleged to be a cultist and also allegedly participated in the murder of a rival cultist who was nicknamed as Mosquito.
The incident reportedly happened in Ijebu Ode and Mosquito was not only hacked to death but also had his left hand cut off and taken away.
Spokesperson for the state police command, Omolola Odutola, disclosed in a statement she issued in Abeokuta, on Saturday that on August 12, a concerned citizen made a distress call to the Divisional Police Officer in Igbeba that rival cult members had engaged one another during which Mosquito was killed.
Odutola added that Adebajo was arrested at 12:03 a.m. at his hideout at Isiwo, Ijebu Ode.
‘Upon receiving this information, a team of detectives promptly mobilized and took action by moving to the location, where one suspect, Adekunle Adebajo aka Kunle Polly, 34, was apprehended.
During interrogations, Kunle Polly admitted to being a member of the Eiye confraternity. This prompted a search to be conducted at his residence which led to the recovery of a Beretta pistol with six live rounds, two UTC axes, and charms.
