Tajudeen Lawal, Other Osun Top Politicians To Receive Kayode Oduoye, Supporters Into APC In Ikirun Today

One of the prominent politicians in  Osun state,  Barrister Kayode Emmanuel Oduoye ,announced his decision to ‘switch’ political party affiliation on Saturday .

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Barrister Kayode Oduoye, who is popularly called ‘Superkay’, has resigned from the PDP and he has disclosed that he would be joining the APC at the defection ceremony scheduled to hold at the Holy Trinity Secondary School, Ikirun, today , August 25, 2024.

Chairman of the party in the state, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal and other party leaders will receive Oduoye and his supporters into the APC at the event.

In his letter of resignation sent to the PDP chairman,  Ward 03 , Ikirun, Osun state which was dated August 23 ,2024, and had the state and local government chairmen cc’d respectively , Barrister Kayode Oduoye noted that he had done this  in exercise  of his constitutional right of freedom of association  as enshrined in chapter iv Art 40 of  the 1999 constitution as amended.

  Many among Osun state PDP members would definitely be surprised at what has happened given that Barrister Kayode Oduoye had risen to the challenge to lift party members’ spirits after the ‘dispersal’ in 2015.

Though the PDP had lost control of the state in 2010, being the ruling party at the federal level had however been a ‘source of strength’ and members of the party in the state had remained in high spirits until the outcome of the 2015 presidential election left them devastated and dispirited.

Oduoye, an indigene of Ikirun, who was the Odo-Otin/Ifelodun/Boripe PDP House of Representatives candidate in the 2015 national assembly elections , had taken steps to raise the spirits of party members and ‘activate’ the party by providing moral and financial support.

The PDP defector, Barrister Kayode Oduoye,  is the son of  late Chief Simeon Oduoye, a retired police officer, who served as Military Administrator of  Niger  and Ebonyi states during the military administration headed by late General Sani Abacha, and later represented  Osun Central in the senate between  2007 and  2011.
