Oyetola, Lawal, Oyedokun, Other Party Leaders Emphasize ‘Unity’, ‘Cohesion’ As Kayode Oduoye, Supporters Formally Join APC In Ikirun

A former Osun state PDP gubernatorial aspirant,  Barrister Kayode Emmanuel Oduoye, who announced his decision to ‘switch’ political party affiliation on Saturday, has formally joined the APC ditto his supporters.

Barrister Kayode Oduoye , sitting first from the left, and Sooko Tajuden Lawal.

Barrister Kayode Oduoye, who was also the Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo-Otin Federal Constituency PDP reps candidate in the 2015 general election, joined the APC at the defection ceremony held  at the Holy Trinity Secondary School, Ikirun,  on Sunday.

Supporters and loyalists accompanied Oduoye to the venue from his  Ikirun residence  chanting solidarity and victory songs to register their unalloyed support for their new party.

Osun state APC bigwigs and party officials including Minister of Marine and Blue Economy,  Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola, the state chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, Youth Leader, Hon Akinwemimo Olagoke,  Woman Leader, Alhaja Kudirat Fakokunde  in their separate speeches during the event assured the new members of  equal treatment with the old members.

Hon Akinwemimo Olagoke also noted that Ifelodun local government had always  gotten recognized  as ‘home of the progressives’ calling Oduoye ‘Omowale’ will therefore according to him be considered as ‘appropriate’.

Giving his speech at the event,  Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola, submitted that Barrister Kayode Oduoye is not a paperweight politician adding that he is a young man who is wise.

Mr Gboyega Oyetola, who was represented by the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority, (NIWA) , Hon  Bola Oyebamiji , also emphasized the need for  members of the APC  in the state  to show total commitment to the party.

Submitting that there cannot be a leader without followers, he also asked party members to participate actively at the ward, and local government levels and begin to mobilize more support for the party  in order to earn victory in future elections.

The minister also said what Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun said four months ago that many Osun state PDP leaders would be decamping to the APC has been proved to be right.

The state APC chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal , called Oduoye defecting to the party ‘a great day’  while urging APC members in Ifelodun local government and the state as a whole to promote cohesion and shun schism.

He also said ‘quality people’ have been defecting to APC.

Addressing party members and supporters at the event, a veteran politician, Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun  narrated how Barrister Kayode Oduoye helped to sustain  and  keep the state PDP alive after  the party lost the control of the federal government in 2015 .

He also alleged that  he (Oyedokun), late Hon Soji Adagunodo , Oduoye and others had at different points in time supported Governor Ademola Adeleke but however got betrayed.

Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun , who said the state PDP will break up citing disrespect to elders, urged Ikirun people to keep the memories of the likes of J.A Lawal, Owoseni, Wosilat, Kusamotu and Rahman Adeyemi alive by supporting the APC.

The veteran politician also commended  Oyetola for his ‘good works’ at the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.

The PDP defector, Barrister Kayode Oduoye, who thanked the APC leaders for welcoming him and his supporters with open arms, pledged loyalty to his new party while promising to work with others for the success of the party in future elections.
