Ex-Rep Gbenga Makanjuola Hosts Thanksgiving Prayer In Omu–Aran, Honoured With Chieftaincy Title In Ikotun-Ile
The Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba AbdulRaheem Adeoti, religious leaders, political associates, family members and friends attended the thanksgiving prayer held by a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon Gbenga Peter Makanjuola in Omu –Aran during the weekend.
The Thanksgiving prayer service which was in fulfillment of the promise he made to God to show appreciation to Him for weathering a turbulent storm that had overwhelmed him for over eight years, was held at his residence, Omu-Aran, Irepodun local government , Kwara state on Saturday, September 7, 2024.
Family, friends, and well-wishers, as well as supporters, joined the former federal lawmaker to thank God for his ‘victory against all odds’
Recall that Hon Makanjuola had made a pledge that he would honour God with a Thanksgiving prayer service if he overcomes the difficulties.
The interfaith Thanksgiving prayer service were led by the Chief Imam of Omu-Aran, Alhaji Sodiq Afolayan, and Rt Reverend Festus O. Shobanke, who is the Bishop of the St. Paul Anglican Diocese of Omu-Aran.
After giving separate short sermons , the imam and the bishop, prayed fervently and sought God’s protection and blessings for Hon. Makanjuola.
While extolling the virtues of the former reps member, the Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba AbdulRaheem Adeoti, described him as a perfect gentleman, and a God-fearing person ,who has contributed greatly to the development of Omu-Aran community.
He made reference to the revelations made by the Anglican Diocese Bishop who said Makanjuola had singlehandedly built a church in Omu-Aran and only handed over the keys to the parishioners .
The monarch also talked about Hon Makanjuola’s continued support for the mosque project in the community describing him as a pride and blessing to Omu-Aran, and a noble son of the soil who deserves all the blessings of the Royal stool.
‘Honourable Makanjuola is one of the illustrious sons of Omu-Aran. He has contributed immensely to the development of this town, and we are here to thank God for him. Our wishes are that Almighty God will continue to take him to higher places’ the monarch said.
Giving his speech, Hon. Gbenga Makanjuola thanked God Almighty for the divine grace and love while appreciating Oba Adeoti and the Olomu-in-Council for the honour and support and expressing gratitude to the clergymen, the Chief Imam, and the Bishop for their love and prayers.
‘I wouldn’t want to waste your time with rhetorical stories.. I took a decision to organize this prayer service to appreciate God Almighty, for His overwhelming love and grace I have enjoyed in the past trying years. I have journeyed through hills and valleys, and I came out victorious. That is worthy of praise.
I have experienced tortuous moments for the past eight years, and this event represents the fulfillment of my promise to God Almighty that I will return all glory and adoration to him for his redemption of my life against all the challenges.
Men pay sacrifices and labours only to receive award, but God almighty gives reward. I pray God reward our sacrifices, dedication, and loyalty’ Makanjuola said.
The former federal lawmaker later left Omu-Aran for Ikotun-Ile,Oke-Ero local government where he was honoured with a chieftaincy title by the Obadofin of Ikotun-Ile, Oba David Ajibola Omope Ilufemiloye 1 during an event held to mark his coronation anniversary..
It was double celebration for Oba David Ajibola Omope as the event that took place at Babalola Mercyland Primary School, Ikotun-Ile, was held to mark his 100th birthday and 50th coronation anniversary.

Former rep Makanjuola ,who was honoured with the chieftaincy title of Otun-Oba of Ikotun-Ile, thanked the traditional ruler and the community for finding him worthy of the title noting that this will spur him to do more for the community.
‘I really appreciate the Ikotun-Ile community for this recognition, which resonated with what Almighty God has used me to do for the community in and out of office. Ikotun-Ile is my maternal home, and I will continue to do my best for the community’ he said.
