Address Youth Unemployment, Education Challenges To Tackle Insecurity, Alimi AbdulRazaq Tells Northern Leaders
Fighting insecurity in the north would be made easy if the twin problems of education and youth unemployment challenges are addressed, a popular lawyer, Dr Alimi AbdulRazaq, has submitted.
A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Saturday noted that Dr Alimi, who holds a doctorate degree in law, said this while addressing members of the Gamji Members Association (GAMA) at his Surulere residence in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Saturday.
Dr Alimi AbdulRazaq, who is the patron of GAMA, added that the leaders must urgently address the education challenges by encouraging mass enrolment of northern youths in schools, noting that educated citizens will not take up arms against the state and the innocent citizens.
The leaders, he noted, should also make deliberate efforts to create job opportunities for the teeming unemployed youths in the north submitting that the problem of insecurity in the region was as a result of lack of access to education and youth unemployment.
‘ Leaders should address the problem of insecurity in the north as an emergency . Lack of access to education and youth unemployment are the major causes of banditry and insecurity generally in the north.
Kwara for instance is an example of a peaceful state. We want our leaders to replicate Kwara’s model across the 19 northern states. We thank the leadership of Kwara State and the security agencies for ensuring peace in the state. Our leaders should please address the issue of insecurity in the north.
There are challenges in the north today because of the failure of successive northern leaders to promote the ideals of the late Sardauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello and his colleagues. We must promote unity amongst the northerners. We in Kwara will continue to promote and uphold the ideals of the late Sardauna’ AbdulRazaq, who is also the grand patron of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) in Kwara State, said.
While praising members of GAMA for their perseverance and for sustaining and promoting the ideals of the late Sir Ahmadu Bello, who, he noted, prioritized the development of the north and its people during his time, Dr AbdulRazaq, who is the Mutawali of Ilorin, also congratulated the Sardauna of Ilorin , Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, praying Allah to grant him long reign and more successes as a political leader and a traditional title holder.
Earlier, the President General of GAMA, Alh Mohammed Tunde Akanbi, had, noted that the history of northern Nigeria will be incomplete without the mention of the name of the late patriarch of AbdulRazaq family of Ilorin, Alh AGF AbdulRazaq (SAN) , who was the first lawyer in the entire northern region.
He expressed delight that Dr Alimi AbdulRazaq has stepped into the shoes of the late Alhaji AGF AbdulRazaq.
Akanbi added that GAMA is proud of the achievements of the state governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, noting that he has not only ensured the development of every part of the state, but also turned Ilorin, the state capital into a model city.
He equally thanked the Mutawali for being a selfless leader who has prioritized the well being of his people in the state.
In their separate remarks, the governor’s Senior Special Assistant/ Counselor, Alh Saadu Salahu and Dr Ghali Alaaya, a non- Executive Director of NNPCL, corroborated Akanbi, saying: ‘We thank Mutawali for his passion and untiring selfless efforts to see the younger generation through to the ladder of their profession and careers’ -Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
