Kwara PDP Condemns Gov Abdulrasaq’s Trip To United States, Calls It ‘Junketing’

Kwara PDP Condemns Gov Abdulrasaq’s Trip To United States, Calls It ‘Junketing’

Kwara state PDP on Saturday called   Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s trip  to the United States of America (USA) ‘junketing’.

The party in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com  by its state Publicity Secretary, Hon Tunji Morounfoye  noted that the  governor had been invited as a Guest Speaker at the ‘Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Diaspora Summit’ ,which was organized ahead of the 2023 general election campaigns.

The summit that according to the PDP took place yesterday,  Friday 16 September in New Jersey , United States of America, was organized by the ‘Nigeria Diaspora For Asiwaju North America’ and  it was part of the efforts to propagate the ideals of the  Tinubu/Shettima APC  presidential ticket which the party has described as ‘dead on arrival’.

‘We, at the Kwara state PDP, had wondered how a governor, who has not spoken to the people he governs even once, in the almost four years that he had held sway as  executive governor of Kwara state can go and address complete strangers at an event in the United States of America.

The opposition and the great people of Kwara state had challenged him on numerous occasions, to address the people of Kwara state to no avail, for almost four years.

The best we have been able to get from the executive governor, Mal. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq is a recording of his conversation with his ragtag media e-rats, where he raised wild and unfounded accusations against the opposition and the preceding two administrations before his mediocre regime.

The self- admitted hermit Governor had famously granted an interview to ThisDay Newspaper where he stated his preference for detached governance. His words “my nature is that I can stay in one place for 10 days, and I won’t talk to anybody’ however hollow and nonsensical they may sound, continue to be his guidebook on communication with citizens of his own state.

The reaction of the governor’s former ally, Alh. Lai Mohammed, the Minister for Information and Culture to the above statement echoes the sentiments of many. The minister said and we quote; …’Abdulrazaq is a Deeply Troubled Soul, Not Qualified for Public Office’…

The current status of noncommunication with the people that Mal. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq governs has shown us that both statements above are true. Under a democratic setting it is an aberration for the government and the governed not to communicate freely. We expect constant engagement between the governor and the people he governs. Unfortunately the governor of Kwara state, Mal. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq does not respect the people he governs enough to address them intermittently or even at all.

Having noted the troubling disconnect between the government and the people, as well as the regrettable communication policy of Mal. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, it is surprising how quickly he jumped on an airplane at the expense of Kwarans, and travels thousands of miles to speak at a place where no one cares to listen to what he has to say, just to please his newly acquired godfather Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We suspect that he hopes to curry  favour with his new godfather to assist him in winning re-election in Kwara state in the 2023 general election.

We, at the PDP, will like to inform the Kwara state governor, Mal. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq that, the Kwara state governorship Election will be decided in Kwara state, by Kwarans. No foreign interference from Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu or anyone else will influence the choice of Kwarans for governor at the 2023 polls. Kwarans have now seen that they are not taken seriously.

This trip of the governor has shown them that they are not viewed as important enough for their governor to address them and receive feedback from them as regularly as possible. As it stands, the governor is yet to address the various allegations of financial impropriety leveled against his regime. Apparently, the governor does not view the theft of state resources by his regime as a criminal infraction or even regard it as a good reason to talk to Kwarans and clear his name. A seemingly untouchable contractor Mr. Abbass Abdulrazaq, has waltzed away with one Hundred and Thirty eight million (N138M) of our common patrimony from the Kwara state Ministry of Energy, yet our governor is silent.

Kwarans, opposition parties and opposition candidates have been asking questions on the huge loans, increased federal allocation and massive internally generated revenue accrued to Kwara state on Mal Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s watch since 2019 when he took over power as governor and has received no answer.

They have all been at the receiving end of the governor’s silent treatment and absolute disdain. We assure the governor that come February and March 2023, Kwarans will do the needful and communicate loudly with votes their dissatisfaction at being treated like they do not matter. They matter and Kwara state deserves better’ the party submitted- Team@orientactualmags.com
