Chairman , Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi , who sought for Osun state PDP gubernatorial nomination in 2018 and 2022, and later stood as a candidate of the Accord Party in the guber election held in the state on 16 July 2022 , has rejoined the PDP.
His media aide, Mr Osunlana Olayemi Olumide, forwarded a Whatsapp message to Team@orientactualmags.com on Saturday night to not only confirm that the top politician had truly rejoined the PDP but to also give plausible reasons for his action.
‘Good Morning my compatriots,
I have been inundated with calls in the last few days when my name showed up on the Atiku Presidential Campaign Committee.
As you all know before I joined the Accord Party to contest the Gubernatorial election, I was a committed member of PDP spanning over 16 years. Many of my mentors and associates are very strong members of the PDP at the highest level. Many of these people had maintained close contacts with me before, during and after the gubernatorial election and they had expressed the need for my team to support Atiku’s Presidential bid.
As you all know, I am a strong believer in a new Nigeria where all citizens could be given opportunities to realize their best potentials. After careful and diligent consideration, I have resolved that my team will fully support H.E Atiku Abubakar’s presidential bid and we will support efforts to ensure his victory in the 2023 Presidential election.
I understand how this decision will affect many of my followers, who have gotten the Accord Party nominations for the House of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate elections in Osun State ahead of the 2023 General Election. I assure you that at the appropriate time , I will address these concerns in view of the new alignment, but I assure you that whatever decision we take will be mutually beneficial to all.
I use this opportunity to thank the State Chairman of Accord Party, members of the SWC and members of the party for the support and cooperation throughout our collective political journey. I have faith that our collective aspirations for a better life for Osun people will be realized someday.
