Osun Park Manager, Wakeel Nurudeen, Reportedly Arrested In Connection With Death Of Oyewale, Illegal Possession Of Firearms

Osun State Park Manager,  Mr Wakeel Nurudeen, who is popularly called Alowonle, has been reportedly arrested by the police after illegal firearms were found in his possession.

He was reportedly arrested by cops attached to the anti-kidnapping unit of  the state  Police Command on Monday night.

Recall that Governor Ademola Adeleke had in January 2023, announced a new transport management system in the state which has Comrade Wakeel Nurudeen and Comrade Sikiru Oyeniyi aka  Ado-Igbona as leaders of the management team.

While Wakeel oversees the (vehicles) sector, Sikiru heads that of the motorcycles.

 Alowonle was reportedly arrested in connection with the death a man, Mr Oyewale, who was killed in 2022.

He was reportedly seized and handcuffed in the Ring Road area of Osogbo, the state capital, on Monday night while attempting to attack a resident who had written a petition against him. 

 Alowonle and his ‘boys’ had arrived at the place in a Previn bus with Reg No: RBC 275XK a distress call  however led to his arrest but his ‘boys’ reportedly aided his escape from the cops while he was rearrested in the Susi area of Oke-Baale, Osogbo alongside eight others.

illegal firearms including a Barrett pistol and six rounds of 9mm live ammunition were allegedly found in his possession.

Sources alleged that Alowonle was shot in the leg while undergoing custodial interogation.

The Osun State Park Management System has also in a statement issued by Alhaji Mukaila Popoola, who is the State Secretary, confirmed Alowonle’s arrest.

 He noted that Alowonle  was arrested over domestic issues.

‘Our chairman was shot at the police custody under circumstances that call for thorough investigations.. We call on our members not to take laws into their hands.
