Court Restrains Police, DSS From Arresting Diran Odeyemi, Adigun Akinpelu

Osun State High Court, Ijebu-Jesa has restrained the police, DSS and other security agencies from arresting a former PDP National Deputy Publicity Secretary, Prince Diran Odeyemi, and Mr. Adigun Akinpelu.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the court gave the restraining order sequel to an ex-parte application filed by Prince Odeyemi and Akinpelu.

In a certified true copy of the lawsuit filed by Prince Odeyemi and Adigun which was signed by the principal Registrar of the court, Adebisi Taiwo, the applicants had filed an affidavit of urgency on November 20, 2024.

Prince Diran Odeyemi

They sought an order of Interim injunction restraining the respondents, the officers under them, and anyone acting through them from arresting, harassing, detaining them, or invading their respective residences or wherever they may be outside their respective residences pending the hearing of the application for  the enforcement of their fundamental rights.

The defendants are the Inspector General of Police, Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, the Director General of Department of State Services (DSS) and head of the DSS in Osun State.

Recall that Odeyemi had accused armed security agents  of invading his residence in Ibadan on October 26, without prior notice adding that this  was an attempt to unlawfully arrest him as part of the plans by the All Progressives Congress (APC), to silence leaders of the PDP in Osun State.

After  counsel for the applicants, Barrister Abdulfatai Abdulsalam had made his submissions, the court ruled  in favour of Odeyemi and Adigun.

The court submitted that Barrister Abdulfatai Abdulsalam had made it clear that there is a need to protect the applicants from the imminent danger of arrest, harassment, Intimidation, or/and invasion of their premises and the hampering of their business.

‘This Honourable Court hereby makes an order of Interim Injunction: restraining all the Respondents, the officers under them, and anyone acting through them from arresting, harassing, detaining the Applicants’ or invading the Applicants’ residences or wherever the Applicants maybe outside their residences pending the hearing of the Application for Fundamental Right Enforcement already pending before the Court; at least until the Respondents have established prima facie a crime against the Applicants’ the court submitted while the case was adjourned till December 12, 2024, for hearing of application for the enforcement of their rights-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
