The Senate of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Ekiti State, has declared ‘full confidence’ in the Vice –Chancellor of the institution, Professor Abayomi Fasina, while praising his good leadership, and his exemplary and progressive administration.
The Vice-Chancellor’s Special Adviser on Media, Dr Wole Balogun, in a statement he issued in Oye-Ekiti on Thursday and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com dismissed the allegations leveled against Professor Abayomi Fasina which, he noted, were promoted through sensational media publications.
Recall that some leaders of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities at the institution had, in separate statement, accused the VC of reversing appointments by reassigning teaching staff to non-teaching roles. He was also accused of sexual harassment and victimization of a union member, intimidation of staff, administrative recklessness, lack of financial accountability, among others.
Dr Wole Balogun disclosed on Thursday that following the motion moved by the Dean of the Faculty of Multidisciplinary Studies, Prof. Ayodele Fajimi, and seconded by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Bifatife Olufemi Adeseye, during its 70th meeting on Wednesday, the institution’s Senate unanimously endorsed and commended Fasina’s leadership ‘for driving significant growth and development across the university’.
‘The Senate expressed its concerns regarding unsubstantiated allegations made against the VC and the university management.
The Senate highlighted the importance of staff adhering to institutional rules and conducting themselves with decorum. Such actions harmed the university’s reputation and progress. A probe into the matter is strongly recommended’ the statement said.
Dr Balogun added that the Senate also celebrated FUOYE’s recent achievements, including the institution getting recognized as the 10th best university in Nigeria and 38th in Sub-Saharan Africa in the Times Higher Education rankings saying, ‘This upward trajectory is as a testament to Prof. Fasina’s effective leadership ditto his team’-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
