In Pictures: Olufon Of Ifon Honours Osun Rural Devt Commissioner, Wife With Chieftaincy Titles

Osun State Commissioner for Rural Development and Community Affairs, Alhaji Ganiyu Olaoluwa was on Saturday honoured with a chieftaincy title by His Royal Majesty, Oba Peter Oluwole Ilufemiloye Akinyooye III, the Olufon of Ifon Orolu.

Alhaji Ganiyu Olaoluwa, who is popularly called ‘Asejere’, was honoured with the chieftaincy title of Aare Gbadero of Ifon Orolu Kingdom, while his wife, Alhaja Kaosarat Olaoluwa is Yeye Aare Gbadero of Ifon Osun.

The installation ceremony was part of the activities held to mark the 2024 Orolu Day and Alhaji Olaoluwa was honoured in recognition of his commitment to the growth and progress of the ancient town.

The event which was the 34th Orolu Day celebration also featured the fundraising for the N5 billion ultra-modern palace project and other projects.

Ifon Osun is the headquarters of Orolu Local Government, Osun State. 

The Aare Asejere of Ifon-Osun, Alhaji Ganiyu Olaoluwa, a prominent politician in the State of the Living Spring, who is currently the Commissioner for Rural Development and Community Affairs, had at different times served as State Welfare Secretary of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), former governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola’s Special Assistant and later Special Adviser, Chairman, Olorunda local government and Osun State PDP Chairman.

He is currently the Chairman of the Osun State Commissioners’ Forum.

Giving his speech  at the Olufon of Ifon’s palace, Alhaji Ganiyu Olaoluwa expressed profound gratitude to HRM , Oba Peter Oluwole Ilufemiloye Akinyooye III for honouring him with the prestigious title, noting that he had for 17 years now refused to accept chieftaincy titles  but however chose to have a decision-switch following the  go-ahead and  the encouragement  he got from Governor Ademola Adeleke, who he thanked for his unwavering support.

He also promised to contribute meaningfully to the development of Ifon Orolu and other towns in the senatorial district.

A donation of N10 million in support of the ₦5 billion ultra-modern palace project was announced on behalf of the Rural Development commissioner by Otunba Rasheed Olaoluwa.

Invited guests and dignitaries later left Ifon Osun for the WOCDIF Event Centre, Osogbo where they were entertained.

The event was attended by Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke; Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye; the governor’s  Chief of Staff, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye; Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Adewale Egbedun; Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon Ireyode; First Lady, Chief Mrs. Titilayo Adeleke; Yeyeluwa Modupelola Adeleke Sanni and other prominent personalities, including  federal and state lawmakers, commissioners, royal fathers, the state PDP officials and other party bigwigs.
