Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State has urged the newly crowned Oloro of Oro Kingdom, Oba Joel Olaniyi Oyatoye Titiloye, Olufayo II to use his position as a royal father to promote unity and peace in Oro kingdom.
A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com noted that the governor , who was represented by his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Hon. Abdulwahab Femi Agbaje White, said this on Monday during Oba Joel Olaniyi Oyatoye Titiloye’s coronation at the open field of Oro Grammar School, Oro, Irepodun local government, Kwara State.
‘Your Majesty, your ascension to the throne marks the beginning of a new chapter in the history of Oro Kingdom.
I am confident that with your wisdom, leadership, and dedication, you will build on the achievements of your predecessors and bring greater peace, unity, and prosperity to your people.
I encourage you to be a symbol of hope, a voice of justice, and a unifying force for your people’ he said.
Governor Abdulrazaq, who is the Akorede of Oro Kingdom, also expressed his administration’s commitment to working closely with the monarch to ensure the development of Oro land.
‘As the Akorede of Oro Kingdom, my administration recognizes the important role traditional institutions play in ensuring development and maintaining harmony within our communities.
We will always stand by you in your efforts to uplift Oro Kingdom and contribute to the overall development of our state’ he added.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Asiwaju of Oro Kingdom, retired Rear Admiral Abdulazeez Afolayan expressed gratitude to the people of Oro and the state government for their divine wisdom that prevailed in choosing their new monarch.
‘I wish to express the gratitude of the entire people of Oro Kingdom to the Kwara State Government under Governor Abdulrasaq Abdulrahman’s leadership for the divine wisdom that made the selection process and mechanism adopted which created a level playing field and spirit of sportsmanship vividly displayed in every way. It culminated in the emergence of our Royal Father on whose behalf we are all gathered here this morning. The ceremony is colourful with an aura of peace, and satisfaction laced with pomp and pageantry.
To my people, the good people of Oro Kingdom, I wish to make a Clarion call to all the sons and daughters of the Kingdom to deeply reflect on events that have bedevilled us in recent years and to firmly declare that it is high time we got united to pave way for the massive and rapid socio-economic development of our fatherland, the Oro Kingdom.
We have wasted more than enough time on unnecessary and unprofitable issues like land and Chieftaincy wrangling. Now is the time for us to embrace peace and reappraise our attitude because no nation, society or group can make any meaningful progress amid squabbles over puerile issues. It is only in an atmosphere of peace, unity and togetherness that we can move positively forward for landmark development.
I, therefore, urge you all to stick to and place emphasis on those things that unite us as a people as those things that unite us are far more than those things that tend to divide us.
It’s very encouraging that our new Oba, His Royal Highness, Oba Joel Olufayo is a man of peace. He has demonstrated this enviable attitude by his deliberate actions since he ascended the throne of his Forefathers. This, he did by visiting and sometimes worshipping in all the towns making up the Kingdom while spreading the message of hope, peace and unity.
Let us all join this noble train of peace and development. We, as a people, must be fully aware of the urgent and historic need to bequeath to generations yet unborn a united and peaceful Kingdom roaring for development and progress on all fronts.
May l at this juncture invite all other eminently qualified contestants to the stool that contested with the new Oba to come around and join hands with the new Oloro in building an egalitarian society of our dream that will be the pride of all of us at home and diaspora. By so doing, ours will be a cynosure in the comity of traditional kingdoms on this terrestrial plane.
l wish to implore our Kabiyesi to be magnanimous in victory as l sincerely wish him sound health, long life, divine wisdom, knowledge, understanding, unprecedented achievements and peaceful reign’ he said.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Igbomina/Ekiti Traditional Rulers Forum, Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Oba Ismail Yahya Alebiosu, also commended Governor Abdulrazaq for his support for traditional rulers in the state and for often making the process of emergence of monarchs rancor- free and urged the new Oloro to be magnanimous in victory.
‘I urge every good son and daughter of Oro kingdom to be more united. Igbomina generally is known for peace and hard work and we should always follow the path of peace. I beg you in the name of God to come together and be more united in the interest of our people. I also urge Kabiesi to bring together everyone who contested the position with him in the interest of development. We as the council of monarchs would always be available for consultation as colleagues’ he said.
