Abuja National Mosque: Saraki In Attendance As Solagberu Leads Worshippers In Friday Prayer

Former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has congratulated Sheikh Abdulkadir Salman Oba Solagberu for leading worshippers in Friday Prayer at the National Mosque, Abuja.

Recall that the popular Islamic scholar was appointed as one of the imams of the National Mosque a few weeks ago.

With the approval of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Abdulkadir Salman Jummu’ah Solagberu , who is the first Maalami Ubandoma of Ilorin, was appointed as one of the imams of the National Mosque in December last year.

For the first time since his appointment in December last year, Sheikh Abdulkadir Salman Oba Solagberu delivered Jumu’ah sermon (Khutbah) and led worshippers in Friday prayer on Friday, February 7, 2025.

The Friday Prayer was attended by Islamic clerics and other dignitaries across the country especially Kwara State who were there to honour him.

A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by Saraki’s media aide, Mr  Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir noted that the former Senate President later hosted a luncheon in honour of the new imam at his residence which was attended by popular clerics and other dignitaries.

Saraki, who attended the Khutbah and the Friday Prayer at the National Mosque, said he was excited to be part of history, seeing Kwara native lead worshippers at the national mosque which has been his wish since his days as Senate President.

While praying for Allah’s guidance for successful leadership, he  also prayed for the advancement of Kwara and more enviable opportunities for Kwarans.

Dr Saraki, who is the Waziri of Ilorin Emirate, expressed belief that Solagberu’s leadership role will no doubt, bring further dignity to Islam and entrench the right religious teachings.

‘Alhamdulillahi! Today is a truly blessed day as we joined our own Sheikh Abdulkadir Salman Solagberu when he delivered his inaugural Jumu’ah sermon (Khutbah) and led the  Friday prayer as an Imam of the National Mosque, Abuja.

Following the Friday prayer, I was honoured to host a luncheon for the Sheikh and some Kwarans at my residence.

May Allah (SWT) bless Sheikh Solagberu, the Malami Ubandoma of Ilorin Emirate in his new role, grant him success in leading the Ummah, and accept his service. Ameen’ he prayed.

While appreciating Saraki for hosting the Kwara contingent, the elated Imam further thanked him for his commitment towards the development and upliftment of Ilorin indigenes, Kwara and Nigeria at large.
