Commercial Driver To Receive 15 Strokes Of Cane For Assaulting Policeman In Kaduna

36-year-old Mustapha Aminu, who is a commercial driver, will be given 15 strokes of the cane for assaulting a police officer on duty.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Kaduna on Thursday ordered that Mustapha, who lives in Ungwan Sanusi area of Kaduna, should be given 15 strokes of the cane after being declared guilty of assaulting a police officer, Sergeant Adamu Maigari.
He had attacked him with a stick.
Aminu Mustapa pleaded guilty to the charge while Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel noted that the punishment was intended to make the convict fully understand the gravity of his offence.
‘This will also serve as a warning to others who may consider committing such crimes. I hereby order a court official to administer 15 strokes of the cane’ he ruled.
Magistrate Emmanuel warned Aminu to desist from such acts and focus on his job to become a responsible member of society.
The prosecutor, Inspector Chidi Leo, had earlier told the court that on January 29, at about 2 p.m., the driver assaulted and injured a police officer while he was performing his duty.
Leo said Aminu Mustapha was driving recklessly, and when Sergeant Adamu stopped him, he attacked him with a stick.
The Magistrate added that the offence contravened Section 237 of the Kaduna State Penal Code, 2017-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
