Assault Charges: Court Grants Bail To Portable In Ogun

Assault Charges: Court Grants Bail To Portable In Ogun

Controversial hip hop act, Habeeb Okikiola, who is popularly called ‘Portable’, was on Thursday granted bail by the magistrate’s court, Isabo, Abeokuta, Ogun State at a first hearing over assault charges.

Portable was arraigned on Thursday, and he had pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.

Recall that he had, once again, been in the news after leading his ‘boys’ to attack officials of Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development in Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota, Ogun State on February 5, 2025.

Recall also that the officials, who were attacked, are TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi.

Portable, who had earlier surrendered himself to the police at the Lagos State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) on Wednesday after being declared wanted by the Ogun State police Command, was transferred to the Ogun State Police Headquarters, Eleweran, before being taken to  court on Thursday.

He is facing charges bordering on conspiracy, assault, and restriction, and conduct likely to cause harm.

His counsel, Oluwatoyin Ayodele,  urged Magistrate O. L. Oke to grant him bail noting that he ‘is now remorseful and has learned his lessons’.

Magistrate O. L. Oke later set his bail at N2 million with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until March 5 for trial.

Portable is facing charges along with Nurudeen Warris (21), Adetola Alashe (25), Samuel Adeleke (28), Oluwaseun Ayenuwa (19), Oluwapelumi Adeosun (20), Gospel Kanu (20), Precious Ohiegebo (19), Ifeoluwa Babatunde (27), and Fatimo Muhammed (26).

The charges border on felony, assault, obstruction, and conduct likely to breach public peace.

Recall that Portable had faced assault charges at the magistrate’s court, Ifo, Ogun State, two years ago, after attacking a policeman, Inspector Hammed Moshood at Odogwu Bar, Oke-Osa, Ilogbo, Ifo.
