Gov Idris Flags Off Distribution Of Farm Inputs, ‘Ramadan Package’ To Kebbi Residents In Birini Kebbi

A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yahaya Sarki noted that the event was attended by thousands of farmers, politicians, and stakeholders from across the state.

Giving his speech at the event, Governor Idris reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to boosting food production and ensuring food security in the state.
He announced that all farming implements and foodstuffs would be distributed free of charge to the beneficiaries.
Items to be distributed include: 10,000 solar-powered water pumps,10,000 gasoline-powered water pumps, 3,000 LPG-powered water pumps, 3,000 power tillers,10,000 knapsack sprayers and 10,000 liters each of herbicides, pesticides, and organic fertilizer as well as improved rice seeds and assorted fertilizers.
Additionally, under the 2025/1446 AH Ramadan food support scheme, 200 truckloads of assorted foodstuffs will be distributed to citizens during the fasting period.
Comrade Nasir Idris also announced that all segments of society have been given allocations.
‘Civil servants, teachers, local government staff, House of Assembly, NLC/TUC, members of the Executive Council, Security Services, Traditional Institutions, Army widows, Boards and Agencies as well as residents of all the polling stations in the state are beneficiaries’ he said.
The governor however warned against diversion or sales of the food items while calling on the committee tasked with sharing the food items to have the fear of God and do things right in respect of its distribution .
Governor Idris highlighted the remarkable progress in the state’s agricultural sector, attributing it to his administration’s numerous interventions and strong partnerships with the Federal Government.
He commended the Minister of Agriculture, Alhaji Abubakar Kyari, for his unwavering support, which has significantly enhanced food security in Kebbi State and across Nigeria.
He also commended the National Council on Agriculture and Food Security for approving the state’s Memorandum on Residual Moisture Crop Production, a strategy aimed at mitigating flood-related losses and improving food security.
‘I urge the minister to implement the council’s resolutions on this initiative. Farmers must also make the best use of the implements made available to them to enhance productivity’ Governor Idris said.
Minister of Agriculture, Alhaji Abubakar Kyari, described Governor Idris as a compassionate and visionary leader, noting that his initiatives have empowered farmers, increased yields, and contributed to food price stability.
Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, assured that there will be no political sentiments in respect of the distribution of the items as the beneficiaries are drawn from registered farmers’ cooperatives under the State Ministry of Agriculture.
Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Shehu Mu’azu, praised the governor’s dedication to agricultural development, submitting that Kebbi State has become synonymous with dry-season farming due to his efforts in creating an enabling environment for farmers.
