Project Inauguration Plaques Are Being Removed From PHCs-Osun APC …They’re Suffering From Illusion-Gov Adeleke

Project Inauguration Plaques Are Being Removed From PHCs-Osun APC …They’re Suffering From Illusion-Gov Adeleke

Osun State APC on Thursday accused officials of the Governor Ademola Adeleke administration of removing project inauguration plaques from all the Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) in the state in order to ‘claim unmerited credit for the jobs that were duly done by his immediate predecessor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola’.

‘Information across the state on Wednesday revealed that the embattled Governor Ademola Adeleke-led administration in the state has given a directive to all the illegal local government chairmen and councillors in each of the local governments in the state to remove project inauguration plaques from the primary healthcare centres.

What the enraged Governor Adeleke and his emissaries of rift do not have the knowledge of is that there is a proper documentation of the projects in both print and video recordings in our possession.

We want to impress it on Governor Adeleke and his foot soldiers who are saddled with the nefarious responsibilities of destroying the legacy of the former Governor Oyetola that they have missed their target as their primordial intention, action and inaction have been exposed’ the party’s spokesman Chief Kola Olabisi submitted in a statement he issued in Osogbo and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Thursday. .

The statement also added that the project inauguration plaques are being removed to strengthen allegations made against Oyetola in a petition sent to the EFCC by the state government last week.

‘Our investigation revealed that it was because Governor Adeleke and his companions later found out that their allegations against Oyetola of misappropriation of the World Bank grant meant for the renovation and rehabilitation of all the primary health care centres across the state was misplaced and without any foundation that spurred them into finding alternative means of eroding Oyetola’s indelible legacy by removing project inauguration plaques’ Olabisi submitted while adding that ‘the people of Osun State are wiser and they know those who are using subterfuge and blatant lies to drive their government without considering the damage such an approach would have on the progress of the state’.

.

‘It is a pity that Governor Adeleke and his cohorts are not aware that there is no amount of willful destruction of the Oyetola legacy projects by the PDP hoodlums that would erase the love of the people for the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy.

Adeleke can only remove the physical nature of the plaques but cannot remove the same from the indelible minds of the people’ the statement added.

Alhaji Gneyega Oyetola, who is currently the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, served as governor of Osun State between 2018 and 2022.

Reacting to the statement issued by the state APC, Governor Ademola Adeleke’s Special Adviser on Public Health, Dr Akindele Adekunle, has described the ‘outbursts’ as a calculated attempt to take attention away from the raging questions of accountability being faced by members of the opposition party, who were officials of the immediate past administration in respect of the utilization of a $20.5 million grant.

Dr Akindele in a statement he issued in Osogbo and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com accused the state APC of suffering from illusion asserting that there was nothing like inauguration of projects in the first place.

‘Ordinarily, we would have ignored the ranting of the Osun APC knowing full well its usual antics to divert public attention whenever questions of accountability are posed to its members.

Contrary to the ridiculous notion canvassed by the APC, Gboyega Oyetola did not build any of the PHCs to warrant commissioning as erroneously alluded, rather, it failed to make a huge amount of money received from donor to improve healthcare in the state.”

The $20.5 million grant under the SAVE ONE MILLION LIVE was pursued and accessed by the Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola administration  in 2018 and out of magnanimity, he left the utilisation of the fund for Oyetola, who took over from him. Originally, the SOML implementation focus is on six pillars, which are skill birth attendant at delivery, improving routine immunization, reduction of mother to child transmission of HIV, malaria control using bed nets, modern contraceptive use for family planning and vitamin A administration to boost child nutrition.

Nevertheless, the Oyetola administration claimed to have utilized the fund to rehabilitate PHCs and some other items, which available facts proved not to be so. We will address this infraction at a later time.

We like to cast the mind of the public to a December 11, 2021 investigative publication from an online newspaper, Sahara Reporter, with the headline ‘Osun Primary Health Centres In Shambles Despite $20.5 Million Revitalisation Grants’, detailing the shabby work done on the PHCs, which does not justify the huge receipt claimed to have been expended on them.

This was nearly a year before the governor assumed office, which clearly indicated that there was no job done by the Oyetola administration that the Adeleke administration could have taken credit for as shamelessly implied by the Osun APC. It was this revelation and passionate calls from the public that made the Adeleke administration conduct a physical assessment of the PHCs and shockingly, they were in deplorable conditions.

A viral video on social media gotten from the Facebook page one Ifedolapo, who is now in the APC, captured the horrible sight of PHCs purportedly rehabilitated by the Oyetola administration. As a Government, it was not acceptable to maintain the hopeless situation, hence, the intervention of the Adeleke administration to fix the PHCs in line with the World Health Organization (WHO) standard requirements’ he said.

Akindele added that ‘we documented the conditions of the PHCs before intervention and right after it, most of which are shared with the public so that they can understand the enormity of the damage inherited by the Adeleke administration’ -Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
