PDP Says No Ground For ‘Emergency Rule’ In Osun, Calls Stand-Off Over Control Of LGs ‘Political Machination’

Osun State PDP has praised the existing peaceful ‘democratic governance’ in the state while asserting that there are no plausible reasons to call for declaration of state of emergency in the state.
The party in a statement issued in Osogbo and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by its state chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi faulted all the reasons listed by the state APC with respect to this and asserted that there is no ‘democratic decline’ in the state as the judiciary, legislature and the executive arms of government are functioning excellently.

Describing the state APC as a window shopper for crisis, the party noted that Rivers State is not Osun State while adding that the situations in both states are quite different and not comparable.
‘We note with utter surprise the shamelessness and open hatred for Osun State people by the APC. Osun is enjoying democratic dividends; machinery of government is running well; there is peace in the state despite the evil orchestration of the APC.
We condemn the increasing desperation of APC against the people and government of Osun State. We urge the presidency and all lovers of democracy to ignore the whispering of these evil power seekers. Osun is not Rivers and there is no basis for any clamour for State of Emergency.
Osun State people are aware and are happy with the leadership capacity of Mr Governor, his team and that of his advisers which has enabled him to deliver on governance service which the APC had failed to accomplish in four years.
The people of Osun State have sincerely rejected the insinuation and the false alarms over the leadership of the state as they know the state governor is not only in charge but also discharging his duties responsibly and in due consultation with his team within and outside the state executive council.
The Adeleke administration respects the judiciary in all ramifications and the crisis that rocked the judiciary then was simply a management issue between the Chief judge and judicial staff of the state. The governor positively intervened at a point to pay up the salary and emoluments that were the crux of the judicial faceoff. Today, Osun judiciary is working normally while the National Judicial Council handles issues around the Chief Judge.
Osun State APC cannot twist reality and facts of Oyetola’s last- minute appointments of traditional rulers, many of who were crowned right inside the Government House in violation of all traditional and legal requirements. Governor Adeleke has since been cleaning up the mess within the traditional institution within the bound of the law.
Just two weeks ago, the Osun State Council of Traditional rulers prayed for the governor and applauded his good governance records, his observance of the rule of law and his utmost respect for the traditional institutions, features lacking when APC was in government.
On the issue of obedience to court judgments, the Adeleke administration has no record of disobeying court orders since assumption of office. On the contrary, it is the APC that has refused to accept the Court ruling which sacked its Yes/No local government chairmen.
The best of legal minds have declared that the Court of Appeal ruling does not contain any reinstatement directive or orders as has been paraded by the Osun APC. There is a national consensus that the APP judgment which sacked the Yes/No Chairmen subsists as it was never vacated by any court judgment including that of the Akure Court of Appeal.
Governor Adeleke as a law- abiding leader decided to alert the public about the evil plot of the Osun APC with a request for security action to stop the planned illegal invasion of the local governments across the state. Despite his public broadcast , it is on record that the APC indeed invaded the council secretariats and killed six PDP members. APC foisted a premeditated violence on Osun State based on a nonexistent court order.
What APC did in the local governments crisis was a repeat of what the party did during the 2022 governorship election where PDP lost 35 party members. Osun APC is clearly vampiric and a blood- sucking platform that has taken the lives of six more PDP members during the recent local governments crisis.
Governor Adeleke demonstrated statesmanship by ordering all parties to stay away from local government secretariats including the newly elected PDP chairmen and councilors. This was after the governor had issued a condolence address to the families of victims including the only APC man that was killed at Ikire.
On the issue of teacher recruitment, Governor Adeleke acted in the best interest of the state by sanitizing the state public service from illegal injection into the service, of thousands of APC sympathizers by Mr Gboyega Oyetola, a few weeks before he was to quit the office as the state governor. The former administration deliberately plotted an over bloated public service whose salaries, the incoming government will not be able to pay.
The booby trap was dismantled by Governor Adeleke who ordered a reversal to due process in the recruitment of health and school teachers within the confine of capacity to pay and with respect to needs of the various sectors of the state economy’ the statement added.
Osun State PDP also added that what the APC National Secretary, Barrister Ajibola Bashiru has done ‘is a manifestation of anti-people desperation and a demonic manifestation of lust for power’.
‘As an enlightened people committed to the rule of law, relevant stakeholders have taken legal action on who should be the legitimate occupants of the local government councils. Rather than engaged in brigandary and violence, Osun stakeholders have embraced the rule of law.
On the strike action at the local government level, there is one thousand and one reasons why local government staff are not at work as they feared for their lives after six PDP members were killed and because the subject of local leadership is already subjudiced.
No local government staff want to be an accomplice to crime as those who hijacked the council secretariats presently have been sacked by a competent court of law and the court judgment the APC is parading has no consequential orders nor contain any directive, reinstating the Yes/No chairmen.
By every account, democratic governance is ongoing across Osun State as the education system is running; the health centres are functioning; several agencies of government are delivering services to the people and businesses are running seamlessly.
The state assembly is working robustly with over 30 bills already passed into law while the court system is working across the various judicial divisions. The Ifon -Ilobu crisis is being fanned by the state APC but security actions is taking charge of the communal crisis that has been on since the time of APC administration in the state.
Osun is therefore not under any situation to warrant lunatic calls for state of emergence as the machinery of government is running smoothly and delivery of democratic dividends is proceeding without let or hindrance’ the party said while urging the presidency to ignore those calling for declaration of state of emergency.
‘We also commend lovers of democracy around President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who constantly speak the truth to the Number One Citizen about the state of affairs in Osun. Osun is peaceful and remain one of the best states in the delivery of good governance’ he added-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
