Former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has talked about the ‘political intrigue’ that led to his removal as National Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party in 2013 while also giving his take on the recent defections in the state that involved two among his close political associates.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, a retired General, and a one-time Military Administrator of Lagos State, who said this while appearing on Fresh FM’s Agbami Oselu programme in Osogbo a few days ago, also talked about circumstantial factors and reasons for the formation of newPDP on August 31 ,2013.
Recall that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, six sitting governors from the north and the then governor of Rivers State, Mr Rotimi Amaechi had announced the decision to leave the main PDP and form newPDP in 2013.

Recall also that Prince Oyinlola had gotten elected as PDP National Secretary at the National Convention of the party that took place on March 24, 2012.
Commenting on the decision of former Osun State PDP Secretary, Chief Yinka Adeojo and former SSG, Alhaji Kazeem Adio to leave PDP for APC , the former governor disclosed that he has discussed the issue with the two people in question.
‘May God help us.
I travelled overseas and I spent up two months there before my return and, I heard that Adio has left the party, I called him and asked why he didn’t give me prior information, he explained to me that ‘if Ila is no longer considered as liveable, you will leave Ila for Ilala’, and that was what happened to him.
Adeojo actually told me before he left the party and I told him to pause action on it that he should let us have a conversation before activating his decision because this journey has happened to one prophet of God before’ Prince Oyinlola submitted while also giving an account of what made him and others leave the PDP in 2013.
‘When I was the National Secretary of PDP , they secretly plotted my removal because they felt that I would not support Jonathan to retain his position in 2015 because Obasanjo wouldn’t support his third term .
Recall that he used the remaining two years of Yaradua and then Baba also helped him and he won , yet he still wanted to do 4 more years , that was not possible because they had to beg the governors from the northern region before they could accept him in 2011 .
So, they believed that Oyinlola as the National Secretary will not support his plans to spend four more years in office ,that was why they went to court and they got me removed.
The governors said Jonathan hasn’t kept his promise and insisted that if Oyinlola should leave, Bamanga who was also the then National Chairman, should also quit.
Jonathan however insisted that Bamanga would retain his position as National Chairman and the governors from the north disagreed, that was what brought the New PDP into existence’ he added- Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
