Fuming Senator Natasha Condemns Decision To Deny Her Entry To NASS Complex, Says Akpabio May Face Contempt Charges

Fuming Senator Natasha Condemns Decision To Deny Her Entry To NASS Complex, Says Akpabio May Face Contempt Charges

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan ,who represents Kogi Central, has condemned the decision taken by Senate leadership to deny her entry to the National Assembly Complex while disclosing plans to make the Senate President, Barrister Godswill Akpabio face contempt charges.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the senator was at the National Assembly Complex on Tuesday but was prevented from gaining access to the premises by security personnel.

Talking to journalists, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan condemned the senate’s actions while accusing the Senate President of contempt.

â€˜Akpabio cannot be greater than the Nigerian Constitution. I want Nigerians to know that the Office of the Senate President doesn’t give me legitimacy as a senator. The fact that he has done an appeal does not invalidate the decision of Justice Binta Nyako, and that does not stop me from being a senator. I got my legitimacy as a senator from the people of Kogi who voted me into office as senator.

That I’ve been denied entry to the National Assembly complex is a statement being made. It’s on record that the National Assembly under Akpabio has decided to be in contempt of a court decision, and it’s quite ironic that they are lawmakers. That poses the question: how far is our democracy in this day and age?

Even the suspension ab initio was fraudulent—the document was faulty’ she said.

The senator added that she would be meeting with her lawyers to know the next course of action.

‘Going forward, I will have a meeting with my legal team so they proceed to the appellate court to seek interpretation into what just happened. I’m a law-abiding citizen’ she said.

Recall that Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja had last month ruled that the Nigerian Senate acted beyond its powers by suspending Natasha for six months and ordered that she should be allowed to resume her legislative duties without delay.

She had also declared Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan convicted of contempt but she was lucky to get a N5 million fine.

Natasha was convicted of contempt by the court sequel to a Facebook post on April 27, 2025, which contains a satirical apology.

Senator Natasha has continued to receive a great deal of public attention since the altercations involving her and the Senate President, Barrister Godswill Akpabio over seating arrangements during a plenary session on February 20, 2025.

Recall also that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan had alleged that she is being victimized by the Senate President because she had refused to join him in participating in the game that requires no referee.

The senate on March 6, 2025, suspended Natasha for 6 months —Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us? Do you want us to cover your event or programme?
