Getting On ‘Electoral Register’, Party Loyalty Emphasized During Saraki’s Meeting With Kwara PDP Stakeholders In Ilorin

Getting On ‘Electoral Register’, Party Loyalty Emphasized During Saraki’s Meeting With Kwara PDP Stakeholders In Ilorin

Participation in the Nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise that will begin on August 18, 2025, party loyalty, unity, and cohesion were given ‘special importance’ during the ‘important’ meeting attended by stakeholders in Kwara State PDP in Ilorin on Tuesday.

The meeting held at the residence of former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki  had in attendance party officials from Kwara North and Kwara South, the state PDP Chairman, Alhaji Babatunde Mohammed, and other members of the State Working Committee, former PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Kawu Baraje, the party’s National Legal Adviser, Mr Kamaldeen Ajibade SAN, former Speaker Ahmad Ali, former Chief of Staff, Alhaji Ladi Hassan, Hon Tunji Moronfoye, former state lawmakers, Engineer Sulaiman Warah and Hon Adamu Usman, Hon Lukman Owolewa, ‘General’ Tajudeen Alabi, Alhaji Nasir Idris and other party bigwigs.

The state PDP Chairman, Hon Babatunde Mohammed set the tone for the meeting by emphasizing the need for party members to sustain their loyalty to the party and to also ensure that they mobilize people to participate in the upcoming Nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had a few days ago announced that ahead of the 2027 General Election, the Nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) will begin on August 18, 2025.

Hon Babatunde Mohammed urged party members to demonstrate that they attach importance to matters concerning the party and its future by mobilizing people, who have just turned 18 or have relocated from one place to another, to ensure that they get on the ‘electoral register’.

He also said the party has set the wheels in motion in respect of its congresses while disclosing that there will be sales of nomination forms between August 18 and 29, 2025.

Making an indirect reference to the ADC, Hon Babatunde Mohammed asserted that PDP is the only opposition party in the state while it has also according to him remained ‘intact’ in the 16 local governments in the state.

He urged party members to be wary of invitations from people and ask questions before attending any meeting while emphasizing the need to remain loyal to the PDP.

‘Don’t bother about coalition or other parties, if they invite you to any meeting, tell them you are a member of PDP.  Remain loyal to our party’ he said.

Giving his speech, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki noted that as a democrat, he felt it important to meet with party members to provide an update on ‘political happenings’, clarify issues and talk about his role and the successes recorded so far with regard to the reconciliation efforts in the party at the national level.

‘The innuendoes about what I know and what I don’t know. I am here so that you can hear from the horse’s mouth’ he said.

Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki commended members of the party for the successful completion of the online membership registration exercise that ended last month which was according to him a huge success.

He noted that one of the reasons for convening the meeting is to thank the party members for making the online membership registration exercise a success.

Asserting that the Kwara State chapter has served as a model to be imitated by others, Dr Saraki expressed delight that other state chapters had since followed suit including the ruling party.

He reechoed Hon Babatunde Mohammed’s message to party members and urged them to attach great importance to the upcoming Nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise and ensure that new eligible voters get on the electoral register.

Talking to journalists including Team@orientactualmags.com ,the state Publicity Secretary, Mr Olusegun Adewara submitted that Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki took the decision to interface with party stakeholders in order to provide an update on ‘political happenings’ and urge new eligible voters to get on the electoral register.

‘The leader of the party in Kwara State, who was the president of the 8th senate, His Excellency, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki has come to have an interface with party faithful, and critical stakeholders in the party today to intimate them and explain recent political happenings in the country to them as well as deliver important communication and information from the national level to party members in the state.

The information is that the party has made a lot of progress in resolving our intra party conflict and as a result of that we have held the NEC meeting and at the NEC meeting, a lot of deliberations and resolutions were reached and those resolutions are very critical to the progress of the party both at the national and the state levels and that is what has made the leader to come and interface with our people and give them an update in respect of what has happened especially those things that are critical to our state chapter, which are:

The state congresses of the party that have been approved by the National Working Committee and the NEC.

The national convention which will hold in Oyo State and the upcoming Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) that has just been announced by INEC, the nation’s electoral umpire .

They are very critical to the struggle of the opposition towards 2027 and those are the issues that the leader has come to discuss with us.

Getting on the electoral register is very critical to the election, no matter how we complain, advise the government and all that, if you are not on the ‘electoral roll’  there is nothing you can do in the next election.

That is why the leader has come with a message that if we must see that very important component of the election struggle, we must key into the upcoming exercise, we must mobile from the grassroots, we must mobilize people who are the new eligible voters to join that struggle and make sure that they get on electoral register so that we will be able to go into that election and secure victory’ he said.

Mr. Olusegun Adewara also said the PDP is not in any way threatened by the existence of any opposition party in the state noting that the primary focus is to make Kwara become a PDP-controlled state in 2027.

‘The PDP is not threatened by the presence of any opposition. Our focus is what the chairman of the party has said that we should ensure that when you are called, the individual party member should know what to tell them, the PDP  in Kwara is facing the struggle of 2027 very squarely with the determination that we are going to take over.

So, we are not disturbed by any noise from any other political party and the PDP still remains at the critical forefront of the struggle for democracy in Kwara and Nigeria as a whole’ he added-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
