Shuaib Oyedokun To Osun NULGE Members: You’re Doing ‘Incalculable Damage’ To Local Govt Administration, Return To Work Without Delay

Shuaib Oyedokun To Osun NULGE Members: You’re Doing ‘Incalculable Damage’ To Local Govt Administration, Return To Work Without Delay

Members of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in Osun State have been urged to rethink the decision to stay away from local government secretariats in the state and return to work without delay.

Their absence at their respective workplaces have not only castrated government activities and got the third tier of government in the state stagnated, but has also done incalculable damage to grassroots development.

A veteran politician, Alhaji Shuaib Afolabi Oyedokun in a statement he issued on Saturday night and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com  said the time has come for the NULGE members to prioritize common good, development and progress of the state and return to work immediately.

He emphasized the need for the local government workers to demonstrate a high degree of political neutrality by returning to work and carrying out their duties and responsibilities that impact lives of residents and citizens of the state.

Staying away from work according to the nonagenarian has the potential to cause severe and irreversible harm on local government administration in the state.

Noting that he did not speak as a politician but rather as someone who had a good experience in labour management relations as former Chairman of the Board of Management of Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS), Ilorin, Chief Shuaib Oyedokun urged the local government workers to place commitment to ‘Osun Project’ above other considerations and return to work right away.

He also said this is a time that local government workers across the country should shun anything that will affect local government administration negatively given that the Federal Government has shown unwavering commitment to local government autonomy and already got it activated.

‘I speak as former Chairman of the Board of Management of Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS), Ilorin and Iam giving sincere advice to my brothers and sisters, who are the local government workers.

Yes, there may have been stand-off over the control of local governments, but we all know that only a few people are attached to the office of a local government chairman, others have their respective offices.

There are different departments and in any case, workers will report to the office of the most senior civil servant there just like those who are in ministries will report to their respective Permanent Secretaries.

There should be no reason for anyone to get involved in matters that do not concern them, they are expected to carry out their duties and responsibilities during the working hours and later leave for their respective homes.

They should avoid actions capable of castrating government activities and stagnating local government administration in the state cognizant of its concomitant incalculable damage.

It is not about membership of any political party, this is not in the best interest of well-meaning Osun State people because it has to do with the future of our state.

Sadly, it is the poor masses that are made to bear the brunt’ the statement added-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
