Hotelier Dies, 20 Construction Workers Escape Death As Building Under Construction Collapses In Edo

Andrew Isesere, a popular hotelier in Idumoza, Uromi, Esan North East Local Government, Edo State died after his new hotel building under construction collapsed on Friday.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the hotelier was pulled out of the rubble on Sunday morning while 20 construction workers were lucky to have escaped death.

‘This is a sad occurrence and it is painful that a young man had to die this way. The construction workers were lucky as 20 of them narrowly escaped death.

The uncompleted building collapsed on Friday and the body of the deceased was pulled out on Sunday. It is so sad’ a source said.

Andrew Inegbebor, a resident of the area, however disclosed that the deceased hotelier was cautioned against using substandard materials.

‘The owner of the building was told that he was using materials that are of low quality. He used 12 mm instead of 16 mm rods for pillars. There was no base basket at the pillars

The building collapsed because of substandard materials that were used. There was no engineer at the construction site. The deceased person  supervised the construction work. The structure later collapsed and killed the owner but the construction workers escaped’ he said.

What many may however consider intriguing is the fact that the deceased hotelier was the only casualty while 20 others escaped death .
