Kano Commissioner Accused Of Facilitating Bail For Drug Baron Resigns

Kano Commissioner Accused Of Facilitating Bail For Drug Baron Resigns

Kano State Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Ibrahim Ali Namadi has resigned from his position.

Recall that Hon Namadi had reportedly acted as a surety for Sulaiman Aminu Dan Wawu, who had charges filed against him at the Federal High Court, Kano by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and this had made him receive a lot of public attention.

Hon Namadi has opted to end his membership of Kano State Executive Council following the furore his role in the drug-related charges being faced by the alleged drug baron had raised.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Namadi’s resignation from his position was announced by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s spokesman, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa on Tuesday.

He added that the commissioner made his resignation letter available earlier in the day while noting that he had done this in the overriding public interest and also acknowledged the sensitive nature of the issue.

Namadi  noted that as a member of an administration committed to fighting drug abuse, he could not in any way  ignore public perception.

‘While I maintain my innocence, I cannot ignore the weight of public perception and the need to protect the values we have collectively built’ he said.

He thanked Governor Yusuf for the opportunity to serve, reaffirming his loyalty to his administration and its core values of accountability and integrity.

Tofa noted that Governor Yusuf has accepted Namadi’s resignation letter and wished him success in future endeavours.

Recall that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had last week set up a committee to investigate Namadi’s role in the bail granted to the alleged drug baron.

The 8-member committee that was inaugurated by Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Faruk Ibrahim on behalf of the governor in Kano on Sunday, had submitted its report earlier in the day-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
