Why We’re Yet To Make Certificate Of National Service Available To Rita Uguamaye-NYSC
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on Sunday explained that the Certificate of National Service has not been made available to a Corps Member, Ushie Rita Uguamaye (State Code: LA/24B/8325), not because she criticized the President Bola Tinubu administration but rather because she was absent during the clearance for the month of April.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that NYSC made this clarification in a statement issued on Sunday by its spokesperson, Caroline Embu while describing allegations that she was not given the Certificate of National Service because she had criticized the Tinubu administration as untrue and false.
‘Contrary to these claims, Raye is one of 131 corps members whose CNS was withheld not as punishment for dissent, but for valid disciplinary reasons.
Specifically, her service year was extended by two months because she failed to attend the April biometric clearance, as required by the NYSC Bye-Laws.
It is important to note that this extension is a standard procedure and not unique to her case, and the principle of equal treatment was only applied in this case’ the statement added.
Recall that Uguamaye had, in a viral video made available on her TikTok account, @talktoraye, expressed frustration over Nigeria’s worsening economic conditions, lamenting the high inflation and economic hardship.
Uguamaye had also criticized the president by describing him as a ‘terrible leader’ while questioning the government’s efforts to alleviate the hardship faced by the citizens.
She also described Lagos State as a ‘smelling state’ and lamented its ‘poor living conditions’.
