Federal Character Commission: Reasons Why Dankaka’s Renomination Was Nullified…Former Rep Ayo Omidiran Named As Her Replacement

Jubilations by supporters and loyalists of Alhaja Muheebah Dankaka was short-lived on Monday as her renomination as chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC) for a fresh term of five years was nullified before people retired to bed.

President Bola Tinubu had done this in separate statement issued by his media aide, Mr Bayo Onanuga on Monday night.

He had earlier issued a statement announcing Dankaka’s renomination which had made her family members, friends and associates to be over the moon.

They actually had every reason to do so. Alhaja Dankaka had reportedly been contacted by the Office of the Secretary to The Government of the Federation last week Tuesday and informed that she would be getting a fresh term of five years and she had looked forward to official announcement which was eventually ‘activated’ on Monday.

The decision was later reversed and sources told Team@orientactualmags.com that she may have lost the opportunity to be back in the saddle because of the current mood of the presidency.

‘Dankaka apparently lost the opportunity to be back in the saddle because of the current mood of the presidency. Considering the status of the people who got involved and supported her renomination including a former president and a very rich and influential person , no one expected that she could be made to face such an embarrassing situation .

The truth is that the presidency does not want controversy for now and  the appointments were announced to pass a message which would have had its purpose defeated if it is greeted with crisis.

Not too long ago, staff of a federal agency, an institute, protested before and after the reappointment of their Director General and he was not replaced.

Those who are also saying it is because of the need for a balance between South and north are funny , so, why should it be the chairman that will be sacrificed?

She actually lost the opportunity because of the current mood of the presidency. Those who hate to see Dankaka’s face simply took a decision to cash in on the situation by calling the power brokers and emphasizing the need to avoid controversy’ she said.

In the meanwhile, the president has named Hon Ayo Hulayat Omidiran as Dankaka’s replacement while also renominating Abdulwasiu Kayode Bawalla as Commissioner representing Lagos State.

Mrs Omidiran served as Chairman of Osun State chapter of the Southwest Agenda (SWAGA ’23) ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

The ageless and brainy woman, is a lover of sports, she is the Founder of Omidiran Babes Football Club.

She received a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Bio-chemistry from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1985.
