Plot To Kill Aregbesola ‘ll Not Materialize Coz People Will Stand Against It-Omoluabi Progressives

The Omoluabi Progressives has raised the alarm and alleged that there are plans to ‘kill’ former Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola politically and physically.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the group said this in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Oluwaseun Abosede on Saturday while adding that recent remarks, threats, and state-backed actions have shown that there is a sinister agenda aimed at silencing Aregbesola permanently.

Citing a series of public comments interpreted as open incitement to violence, including warnings that he would ‘face consequences’ and the calls that he should be ‘made an example of’ , the group said this is dangerous and unacceptable in a democracy.

The statement further alleged that on August 14, security agents disrupted a political rally in Sagamu, Ogun State, where Aregbesola, who is the National Secretary of ADC, had planned to campaign ahead of the bye-election.

The group added that the venue was vandalized, and equipment seized while Aregbesola, a former governor of Osun State, was also stopped from attending the rally.

‘These attacks, from inflammatory rhetoric to physical obstruction, represent nothing less than what analysts have described as the anatomy of assassination politics’ the group said..

The statement also noted that Aregbesola committed no offence by choosing an independent political path and demanded that his constitutional rights be respected.

‘We therefore warn, in the clearest possible terms, that any plot to harm Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola will be resisted by the people.

Those behind these plots must desist immediately. The safety, dignity, and political rights of Yoruba leaders must not be sacrificed on the altar of opportunism’ the statement added.

Nigerians were also asked to take note of the growing rhetoric of threats while security agencies were urged to prevent democracy from being desecrated by intimidation and violence-Team@orientactualmags.com
