ADC Made ‘Wild Accusation’, We Didn’t Distribute Adulterated Fertilizers To Farmers- Kebbi Govt

 Kebbi State Government submitted on Thursday that the state ADC has made a wild accusation while describing as untrue the allegations that the fertilizers procured for onward distribution to farmers in the state are adulterated. 

 The state Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Shehu Muazu noted in a statement  made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Thursday that there were allegations that the State Government bought and distributed adulterated fertilizers to farmers in the state..

The ADC had according to Muazu alleged that the state government added sand to the fertilizers, an allegation that is unfounded.

 The State Government, he noted, found media reports alleging that sand was added to the fertilizers puzzling and surprising.

‘I want to to make it categorically clear that in the 2025 wet season, Kebbi State Government has not awarded any contract for the procurement of  fertilizers.

Rather, the governor in his own wisdom, has decided to use the period  to encourage our own local industrialists.

Therefore, he directly purchased fertilizers from local blending plants.

The three fertilizer companies engaged by State Government for the supply of fertilizers are: Maccat Agro Limited, Danmadami Fertilizer blending plant and Contect.

Also, Mairiga company was engaged by the Local Governments for the procurement of the fertilizers’ he said.

Muazu added that the essence of the governor’s action was to encourage industrialization and support the local entrepreneurs.

‘So, the claims by the ADC to the effect that the governor has awarded a  contract for the procurement of fertilizers is false, and untrue.

Equally, the governor, in his own wisdom, graciously approved the introduction of bio-organic fertilizers.

Because you all know that the world is moving towards organic production and it is moving away from chemical fertilizers’ he added.

The commissioner further explained that the Ministry of Agriculture made a suggestion to the governor that the state should key into the extant global trends.

According to him, this was with a view to ensuring that Kebbi State does not lag behind in this direction.

Muazu added that the governor equally approved the direct procurement of ten trucks of organic fertilizers from Contect Agro global Ltd which is a well known company in Nigeria as far as bio-organic fertilizer is concerned.

‘This is our position and it is so unfortunate that ADC decided to toe the path of destruction.

They should have come to the ministry and make inquiries because our door are always open.

It is also regrettable that the ADC decided to feed the media with uncorroborated lies.

It is unimaginable for any credible fertilizer blending company to adulterate its own products, especially when supplied directly to the government. The fertilizers are available for inspection by the media and the general public’ he added.
